It is reported that the Liberal Democratic Party's Election Management Committee plans to meet on August 20 and officially announce the election schedule.

So far, 11 people, including former LDP Secretary-General Shigeru Ishiba, former Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato, and current Digital Minister Taro Kono, have expressed their intention to participate in the election.

The current Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has recently stated that he will not run for election, which means that the new LDP president elected on September 27 will succeed Kishida as the new Prime Minister of Japan.
