Recently, the "Hong Kong Youth Shandong Qingdao Marine Science Internship Program 2024" was held in Qingdao. 16 interns from various universities in Hong Kong conducted a three-week study and internship at Laoshan Laboratory, Ocean University of China, Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, and Qingdao Marine Geology Research Institute.
The event is hosted by the Home Affairs and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shandong Provincial Committee and the Laoshan Laboratory, undertaken by the Hong Kong Ocean Park, and supported by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Qingdao Municipal Committee.
This activity is one of the six "Mainland Special Internship Programs" in this year's new round, and it is also the only internship program with the theme of the ocean. Through close contact with marine scientific resources such as the marine environment, aquatic biological genetic resources, and marine product resources, the trainees deeply appreciate the grand blueprint of managing the ocean and strengthening the ocean, and realize the importance of high-level protection and high-quality development of the ocean. While cultivating their patriotism, they further stimulate their interest and enthusiasm in exploring the ocean.
