South Korea plans to introduce tablets with AI teaching materials, more than 50,000 parents signed a petition against it

IT Home reported on August 19 that according to the Financial Times, the South Korean government plans to bring tablets equipped with artificial intelligence teaching materials into the classroom.

The government plans to launch the program next year, and by 2028, teachers will use these AI teaching materials to teach all subjects except music, art, physical education and ethics.

IT Home noted that the government has not yet announced specific details, only saying that theseTeaching materials can be customized according to different learning progress, teachers can check students’ learning status.

In response, more than 50,000 parents in South Korea signed a petition.Asking the government to focus less on new technology and more on the overall well-being of students“As parents, we’ve come across a lot of issues around (children’s) exposure to digital devices.”

Lee Sun-youn, a mother of two, responded: “I’m worried that too much digital use will have a negative impact on their brain development, attention span and problem-solving abilities — they already overuse smartphones and tablets.”
