During the delivery process, food delivery riders are often troubled by different road conditions or destinations. The building numbers in the residential area are unclear, the roads are temporarily closed for maintenance, the building entrances are hard to find, the waiting time for office elevators is longer than expected, and the community does not allow riders to enter during certain periods of time... In order to solve these possible problems, a "rider map" mini program came into being. In addition to the city map, the mini program also has detailed annotations and precautions for roads, businesses and delivery points.
However, recently, a small program called "Rider Community Building Number Map" has caused heated discussions on the Internet. The reason is simple. Although the basic function of this small program is to quickly find the building number and route of the community, there are many location labels on the map in the small program that leak residents' privacy, swear words, and even labels that directly mark the access control passwords of the buildings in the community. These marked information does not need to be reviewed or the real name of the marker, and is publicly visible to all users of the small program. However, deleting the label requires registration, watching ads, consuming points and other thresholds and cumbersome operations, which has triggered widespread discussion about concerns about personal privacy and security.
In the "Community Building Number Distribution Map", the reporter found that there were only building number labels on the map for many communities in Yunyan District and Nanming District of Guiyang City, and most of the building numbers were incomplete. No other relevant information was found, which was suspected to be the system default label. When the mini program is opened, a prompt will pop up at the top saying "Please do not mark the access control password, evaluate the community and security guards." The reporter tried to ask through the customer service channel within the mini program whether the current map display of the Guiyang area is the system default, but received no response.
It can be seen in the "Rider Community Map" applet that registration is required to use the applet, and currently only provides query information on buildings in Chengdu. In the "Shanqi Map" applet, the reporter observed multiple areas and found that the scope of Guiyang City was displayed on a normal map without any location labels.
The reporter also interviewed some food delivery riders about the use of such mini programs. "I have never used this," a food delivery rider waiting to pick up food at the Zhongjian Huafu Street Noodle Restaurant told the reporter, "I usually only take orders from this area. I am very familiar with this area. If I have never been to a community, I can ask the security guard or call the user directly to find it." Another rider said, "I have used it several times," but he could not remember the specific name of the mini program. "There is very little information (on it), and I have not used it since then."
The reporter learned from a rider in Huaxi that most orders can be navigated to on the map provided by the food delivery platform. He said that some old residential areas with unclear or missing building numbers or large residential areas with irregular building distribution are difficult to find and delivery orders are prone to timeouts. Therefore, it is best for them to have a food delivery cabinet or a unified food delivery collection point. "Just take a photo of it and send it to the user to remind them to pick it up quickly," the rider said. Some riders also refused to answer the reporter's inquiries about the "rider map" mini-programs.
The results are displayed in the "Community Building Number Distribution Map" applet
Is the malicious labeling phenomenon in the "Rider Map" type mini-programs illegal or against regulations? In this regard, the reporter consulted a lawyer for an answer. The lawyer said that the Civil Code clearly stipulates that personal information is protected by law, and no organization or individual may illegally collect, use, process or disclose other people's personal information. The behavior of "Rider Map" type mini-programs leaking users' detailed addresses, community building access control passwords and other private information has already involved infringing citizens' personal privacy rights. Using dirty words to mark places and residents may constitute defamation or insult, infringing on consumers' reputation rights.
The "Rider Community Map" applet only supports Chengdu building information
The difficulty that food delivery riders face in finding buildings is a key factor affecting delivery efficiency, but the hidden dangers of malicious labeling and leakage of personal privacy caused by the auxiliary tool "Rider Map" are also worrying because the mini program does not require installation and download, is easy to use, and has low operating and development costs. This should attract the attention of relevant platform companies and regulatory authorities.
