After a vote by British Columbians, the name of the outdoor amphitheater currently under construction at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) was announced yesterday (Saturday, the 17th).

PNE announced in May this year thatFreedom Mobile has purchased the naming rights for the new venue, which will replace the now-demolished amphitheater that has been in Hastings Park since the 1960s.

The PNE is inviting residents to vote online on what noun they think should follow the Freedom Mobile in the facility's name. The four options are Freedom Mobile Amp, Freedom Mobile Arch, Freedom Mobile Rise and Freedom Mobile Place.

The amphitheater's official name, Freedom Mobile Arch, received more than twice as many votes as other names combined, according to PNE President and CEO Shelley Frost.

She said at a media conference on Saturday that the Freedom Mobile Arch will be one of the most beautiful outdoor amphitheaters in North America when it opens in 2026.
