Guanhai News reporter learned from State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company that on August 15, the "Qingdao Virtual Power Plant" completed registration and publicity on the Shandong Power Trading Center platform, marking the official launch of the virtual power plant. As a practical resource aggregation platform participating in power market transactions, the virtual power plant, as a new business model, will boost the rapid development of Qingdao's new power system.
It is reported that the virtual power plant is not a physical power plant, but an "invisible power plant" built on the basis of new generation information communication, system integration and other technologies. The virtual power plant aggregates and manages distributed energy sources such as distributed power sources, energy storage, controllable loads, electric vehicles, and charging piles, which can effectively alleviate the imbalance between supply and demand in the distribution network. During periods of low electricity demand and oversupply, the energy storage equipment connected to the virtual power plant can absorb excess electricity for storage; during peak electricity demand, the energy storage equipment releases electricity to meet electricity demand, thereby balancing electricity supply and demand, optimizing resource allocation, and improving the safety and stability of the power system. In addition, by giving priority to the dispatch of clean energy, virtual power plants can help reduce the consumption of fossil energy and greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance social benefits such as energy conservation and emission reduction.
It is understood that the "Qingdao Virtual Power Plant" has currently connected to 10,482 base stations of China Tower Qingdao Branch, with a total capacity of 148,800 kilowatts of resources such as batteries, of which the adjustable capacity is 50,800 kilowatts. It is the virtual power plant with the largest number of aggregated resources and the largest battery-type adjustable capacity in the province. On June 11, Qingdao Power Supply Company conducted an adjustment capacity test on the aggregated resources of the virtual power plant, randomly selected 20 base stations, and verified the load adjustment capacity of the virtual power plant through the procurement system, successfully reducing the power load of the base stations by 61%, and the interaction with the power grid has achieved remarkable results.
According to State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company, during the preparation of the virtual power plant, State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company strengthened top-level design guidance, strengthened cooperation with Shandong Electric Vehicle Company, China Tower Qingdao Branch and other units in registration and declaration, resource sharing, etc., and successfully realized the project's implementation in the company's provincial-level industrial units.
It is reported that the project has achieved the "four firsts" of virtual power plants in Shandong Province - the first to cooperate with the provincial electric vehicle company and enter practical operation, the first to aggregate resources of more than 10,000 households, the first to use base station batteries as the main regulating resource, and the first to be aggregated with state-owned enterprises such as China Tower. The practice of State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company in the construction of virtual power plants has provided a typical example for accelerating the construction of new power systems and promoting the optimization and transformation of energy structure.
