From August 17 to 18, the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration and the East China Sea Rescue Bureau under the Ministry of Transport jointly implemented the 2024 Taiwan Strait Maritime Patrol and Law Enforcement Operation to enhance maritime traffic control and emergency rescue capabilities in the Taiwan Strait, and effectively protect the safety of life and property of ships, facilities and personnel sailing and operating in the Taiwan Strait. The operation was jointly carried out by a patrol fleet consisting of three official boats, namely "Haixun 06", "Haixun 0802" and "Donghai Rescue 115". It lasted 30.5 hours and the total cruising mileage was 413 nautical miles. The main tasks included: conducting patrols in relevant waters of the Taiwan Strait, patrolling waterways, anchorages, offshore construction areas, high-risk warning areas for commercial and fishing vessel collisions, traffic-intensive areas, accident-prone areas, Taiwan Shoals and other waters along the Fujian coast, investigating and punishing all kinds of maritime traffic violations and maintaining navigation order; patrolling waterways in the central waters of the Taiwan Strait, implementing traffic organization and control, checking passing ships, and inspecting the implementation of maritime emergency search and rescue plans on site; patrolling and inspecting navigation aids in the Taiwan Strait, verifying ship identification code information on site, testing land and sea communication transmission capabilities, and maintaining water radio communication order.
