On August 17, the offline selection for the "New Arrivals, Post-00s Talkers" (Season 4) youth theory propaganda activity jointly sponsored by the Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department, the Provincial Party Committee Working Committee, the Zhejiang Daily News Group, the Provincial Education Working Committee, and the Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission was launched. Through preliminary organizational recommendations and video selection, 100 post-00s talkers stood out from nearly 400 applicants and entered the offline inspection phase.
This selection added a written test, which specifically set up two topics: hot comments and speech writing. Zhou Zhan from the Yueqing Public Security Bureau used "empty shell education" as a metaphor to express his own point of view when facing the topic of "school environmental protection education has spawned a new business due to collecting empty milk cartons": "'Empty shell' education has fallen into formalism, such a business is unacceptable, and the purpose of environmental protection education should be real and effective." According to the organizer, the focus of the hot comment writing is to cultivate the ability of the lecturers to use theory to solve real problems. If they really believe in it and use it, their lectures will naturally be able to "sound" into people's hearts.
The written test also selected four golden sentences about reform, and required the contestants to write a 1,000-word speech within a limited time. Lan Chunqian, a contestant from the Yaxi Police Station of the Liandu Branch of the Lishui Public Security Bureau, chose "Development is the topic, and reform is the article", and wrote a speech entitled "The Spring Breeze of Reform Blows All Over the Face". Starting from the three identities of a post-00s lecturer, a people's policeman, and the people, she explained the different feelings of the three perspectives of witness, participant, and beneficiary of the reform process. "This time, electronic devices are not allowed in the written test, so there is less copying and pasting, and more thinking on my own. The two hours of writing made me feel like I was back at the civil service exam site." In order to prepare for the written test, Lan Chunqian studied the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee on her own since she registered, and consulted a lot of literature.
In the interview session, the contestants made self-introductions, impromptu speeches, and talent shows. The contestants came from all over the province, of which 51% were college students. There were also contestants from state-owned enterprises such as China Railway 24th Bureau and grassroots towns and streets.
The contestants gave speeches on current political topics such as Chinese-style modernization, common prosperity, and reform and opening up. Amina, a Xinjiang girl from Zhejiang Water Resources and Hydropower College, opened the show with a dance that was unique to Xinjiang, vividly telling the touching story of generations of water conservancy workers who have selflessly dedicated themselves to Xinjiang and have continued to provide assistance to the region, and demonstrated the reform practice of promoting the deepening and implementation of the ethnic community; Zhang Yuqi from Zhejiang University of Technology used the form of "open mic" to tell the story of his hometown Linping, Hangzhou, which has continuously attracted foreign tourists and promoted the people's wealth and income increase through "urban-rural integration development" and "rural comprehensive revitalization", and occasionally came up with "explosive golden sentences". After the speech, talents such as kalimba, allegro, bass, liuqin, and magic also appeared one by one. These talents will be integrated into the speech works through professional art guidance in the future.
Ye Shengjun, a teacher from Zhejiang University, is one of the judges of this selection activity. In her opinion, writing ability and presentation ability are the basic skills of a speaker. "The selection of post-00 talkers may seem a bit strict, but it is aimed at the pain points and difficulties in the current training of young speakers. A speaker is not a 'porter'. The speaker who can calm down and study in depth, pay attention to the real society, and is good at thinking and 'internalizing' is the speaker we need."
It is reported that an expert jury consisting of relevant persons in charge of the organizer, famous lecturers, media reporters, social scientists, and lecturer representatives has been formed for this event. Zhang Zhenxiang from Chao News has participated in three selection and evaluation sessions. "Some netizens say that the post-00s are indifferent to social development. This is one-sided. From the post-00s who participated in the event, we can see not only youthful vitality, but also patriotism and full confidence in the future." In the view of the comrades in charge of the Theoretical Department of the Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department, the training of post-00 talkers is not a simple few course trainings and a few lectures and demonstrations. It is more about cultivating a group of young people who have positions, feelings, research, skills, and achievements through the carrier of theoretical lectures, and who can truly play a positive role in all walks of life.
Hu Jinyuan, who was specially invited to participate in the interview review, is a post-00 talker in 2022. "I seemed to see myself two years ago at the scene. In the past two years, I have also taken a road of 'reversal'." Since becoming a post-00 talker, Hu Jinyuan has gained different wonderful things. His short video of preaching was commended by the Central Propaganda Department, and he successfully "passed" the civil service examination. Not long ago, he also gave a preaching presentation as a representative of the post-00s at the Lishui Municipal Party Committee Standing Committee. "I look forward to new partners joining us and growing together in the 'roll'."
This selection will produce the fourth batch of pre-recruited members of the "Post-00 Talker" propaganda team based on the written test and interview results, and they will participate in offline training. Subsequently, a series of activities will be carried out around the dissemination of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
