Arrowhead Games released a message to players in-game today, revealing that a recent critical directive had been compromised by cheaters. The studio has already issued the intended rewards to all honest players, and in typical Bad Boys style, described the entire incident in Super Earth terms.
The message stated: "Super Earth High Command discovered a large number of forged samples in the delivery of the last important directive. As usual, all Jedi Divers who performed their duties honestly were awarded medals, and the pet fish of the person who submitted the fake samples was immediately executed.
All laboratories in super-Earth space are trying to filter out false samples, but scientific progress to combat the spread of darkness is expected to decline drastically. Therefore, relocation procedures have been initiated for worlds close to darkness. "
The crucial directive to collect millions of samples of terminal matter was originally scheduled to last four days, and some players complained that the mission was too difficult. However, within a few hours after two-thirds of the objectives were completed, it was clear that something had gone wrong. It's unclear exactly how this was achieved, but despite having anti-cheat software, there are still a large number of hackers in Bad Boys 2, some of whom even sell services to dig up unreleased vehicles, activate God Mode, or skip grinding for other players. Forum user Unique5673 pointed out that the known "sample copy cheat" might be the culprit.
While Bad Boys 2's anti-cheat system can't prevent this, Arrowhead can manually investigate the results of Vital Orders and identify players who are clearly cheating. As for the game's ongoing story, while players receive rewards for Vital Orders, things appear to proceed as if Vital Orders failed.
