As a sensitive and creative INFP, Qiu Tian may be a natural fit for the role of Li Xiaole. When filming Li Xiaole's appearance in "Negatives Make Positives", director Wen Shipei allowed Qiu Tian to play freely. She picked up a glass on the table and listened, because she felt that she could vaguely hear the sound of the sea in it. These flashes of inspiration were all put into the feature film by the director.

The script of life is dull and boring, but when the changeable and eccentric Li Xiaole meets the introverted and numb worker Huang Zhenkai, the sudden love becomes a good medicine to cure loneliness.

Qiu Tian is quite knowledgeable about fragrances. We asked her to come up with the base notes for the characters in the movie. She added a lot of "powerful" notes for Li Xiaole: rose, musk, citrus, pepper...

"Wild Cat" Li Xiaole: Escape means love

Before Qiu Tian became Li Xiaole, Wen Shipei gave her a questionnaire for Columbia University's film directing and screenwriting program. One of the questions was: What kind of animal do you think your character is?

"Little wild cat" is the animal interpretation Qiu Tian created for Li Xiaole's avoidant attachment personality. Her experience of raising cats gave her more inspiration when interpreting Li Xiaole. "On the one hand, wild cats need love and want to be touched, but once someone really wants to get close to it and take it home, it will immediately run away because it longs for freedom. This sense of contradiction fits Li Xiaole very well."

Having lived in lies since childhood and been tossed around like a ball by her family, Li Xiaole's lack of inner security is also reflected in her body language: even at home, she will sit with her legs curled up, keeping her distance and being alert like a kitten crouching around a hen.

Long-term loneliness can't withstand the sudden spark of love. In "Negatives Make Positives", Li Xiaole and Huang Zhenkai's feelings began with intuition and physical contact. In the romantic bubble released by the alien director, the two talked about their respective youthful first nights, and empathized with each other that life is a huge Truman world, which made them fall in love quickly.

Talking about the love between two "negative people", "I think love is free, it is not a rational thing. When love happens, you can neither define nor resist it," Qiu Tian felt. "Those who originally rationally and subconsciously escape will also be disrupted by love and be led by love.

What is more intimate than exposing one's body is exposing one's vulnerability. Her favorite scene in the movie is the one where Li Xiaole and Huang Zhenkai communicate through a cigarette across the bed. Li Xiaole, who frequently changes her identity, takes off her wig and disguise at that moment. She realizes her dependence on Akai, and the fear of being hurt and abandoned caused by too much emotional involvement, so Li Xiaole chooses to leave without saying goodbye again.

"Li Xiaole is very tough. She acts very chic and cool, but in fact she just ran away. Running away means she is in love."

In Qiu Tian's understanding, getting involved in one relationship after another and quickly withdrawing from them is almost a normal part of Li Xiaole's life.

For example, Daoming Si, who is also a wanderer in the world, "We can be said to have grown up and worked hard together. Li Xiaole would be more realistic in front of Daoming Si to show his vulnerability and embarrassment. During the whole process, we snuggled up to each other, as if two stray cats formed a small group to fight against the complicated world outside. It was such a state."

But when he discovered that this friendship was about to turn into love, Li Xiaole, who was sensitive to all this, fled in panic.

"In the movie, the two of them went to work in a car shop together. When Daoming Si drove her to confess his love, I kept avoiding what teacher Jiang (Qiming) gave me when I was acting, because I felt that Li Xiaole was like that. When the car was spinning in circles and the music was playing on a loop, she was very afraid that Daoming Si would suddenly say something that would take her feelings to an unknown direction and cause her to lose her best friend.

The encounter with Larry brought Li Xiaole into a fascinating and strange new world. If he were to describe Larry as an animal, Qiu Tian would compare Larry to a noble fox, who possessed the charm of a mature woman and enviable wealth and elegance.

"She can feel that there is a huge gap between herself and her sister. This inferiority complex makes her want to tell countless lies so that she can be in the same position as Lalifa. They met at the ski resort, danced close to each other under the flashing neon lights of the dance floor, and took advantage of the night to teach street thugs a lesson with their flying dragon spiral kicks. When they parted, Li Xiaole wanted to say goodbye properly.

When interpreting this scene, Qiu Tian designed three "bye-bye" rituals for Li Xiaole, until Lalifa turned around and responded, "She then jumped away from this relationship, although it might be inexplicable to Lalifa, how to say goodbye is really goodbye (laughs)."

The days when Qiu Tian entered Li Xiaole's world were challenging and confusing. "I have never played a character with so many identities, always jumping in and out. Sometimes when I was acting, I was worried that I would lose her."

But looking back now, she feels that Xiaole has never been far away from her, and the confusion she experienced was precisely the result of being immersed in Li Xiaole's perspective and unable to see the progress bar of her life clearly.

After three fleeting relationships, Li Xiaole, who was passionate and alienated, finally chose to embrace the warmth and kindness of the world. "From avoiding and not daring to love at first, to later mustering up the courage to approach Huang Zhenkai as her true self, to accepting her inferiority, brokenness and imperfections, she was willing to expose all of these to her lover. I think this is her growth."

Just as "Negatives Make Positives" is not only about love, but also embraces the process of contemporary young people reconciling with themselves. Talking about the line in the movie "How can a person live alone all the time, but not be lonely?", Qiu Tian felt that he was still looking for the answer.

Loneliness is a lifelong companion. “Every time you feel less lonely, you are actually just trying to escape loneliness and get some immediate happiness, which often makes you more lonely.”

So, as an INFP, she chose to go with the flow. Instead of resisting, she chose to face loneliness and enjoy it. "Only by becoming good friends with loneliness can you stop thinking about getting rid of it."

Lie is "I'm not nervous", love is empathy

In "Negatives Make Positives", there are too many wonderful mental states of contemporary young people who are going crazy. For example, Li Xiaole and Huang Zhenkai have fun in the children's playground, sit in the subway elevator backwards, and chat up street artists on the overpass at midnight. The witty Li Xiaole uses the excuse that "my boyfriend is going to Zimbabwe to mine" to ask Ah Kai to hand over his guitar for him to play and sing.

Qiu Tian remembers that this outrageous lie came from Zhu Yilong's imagination. "The shooting was very random at the time. We encountered a problem: how could Li Xiaole snatch the musician's guitar? What lie should he tell? The three of us kept brainstorming, and Brother Long mentioned that he wanted to go mining. The director thought this was a good idea and used it directly."

When she first got the script, Qiu Tian didn't know that her co-star was Zhu Yilong. After hearing the news from the director, her first reaction was excitement and joy. At that time, she had just watched "Life Events" with her family. Qiu Tian told her grandmother that the actor she would be working with next was "Mo Sanmei". "She said, oh, she acted so well, you must not hold her back, and said you were nervous!"

Even after joining the crew, this feeling of uneasiness still accompanied her. From being too timid to say hello when they first met, to being unable to look each other in the eye when taking the final makeup photos, Qiu Tian deeply realized how slow it was for people to communicate.

Seeing that both of them were very shy, director Wen Shipei suggested that they might as well meet through roles, substituting themselves into the unconventional Li Xiaole's thinking, and Qiu Tian relaxed in front of the blue-haired "Huang Zhenkai".

"I felt like throughout the filming of the entire drama, I couldn't help but be in Li Xiaole's state when we were together."

Once, Ah Mao invited Qiu Tian, ​​Zhu Yilong and the director to watch Wu Tiao Ren's concert. "The two of them just sat there quietly watching the concert. I wanted to dance to the rhythm, but I felt it was a bit (exaggerated) for one person to stand up. It was the kind of state where I put my hands down and then raised them again (laughs). If she were the director of "Negatives Make Positive", she would probably arrange a cat and dog adventure story for Li Xiaole and Huang Zhenkai, "maybe there will be love, magic, and fighting."

Li Xiaole in the movie is good at lying. For Qiu Tian, ​​the most exaggerated lie he has ever told is "I am confident, I am not nervous."

Qiu Tian decided to use Li Xiaole's sense of belief to cheer himself up, and took the initiative to chat with Zhu Zhu about music, zodiac signs and daily preferences. As for the imaginative alien scenes in the movie, it was extremely joyful to shoot on the set. Qiu Tian was impressed by the spirituality of "director" Wang Yitong, who performed an irreplaceable role simply by using his body language while wearing the alien skin. "Everyone was so happy when he moved the horns on his head."

She believes that aliens exist somewhere in this world, even as a consciousness or a radio wave. Sometimes our sudden changes in concepts may be influenced by aliens.

Once when she was shooting a commercial in the plateau, Qiu Tian fell into a deep sleep due to lack of oxygen and fell into multiple dream spaces. In a trance, she felt as if she saw an alien curled up on the bed next to her. Although she was afraid, Qiu Tian in the dream still walked over and gave him a hug.

"Did you feel some kind of empathy towards him at that moment, such as loneliness?"

"I think so."

Everyone has different understandings of love. Li Xiaole thinks love is freedom. When this question was asked to Qiu Tian, ​​her answer was "I can relate."

"A good lover is like a mirror to me. I can see everything about myself through it. When the two mirrors are put together, that is the best love for me."

Have a remote control of life, but also live in the present

Qiu Tian's first collaboration with director Wen Shipei originated from "Unknown Animals". In this fantasy short film, she played an alien girl with ever-changing makeup and flaming red lips.

In her impression, Wen Shipei is introverted, but communication is smooth. "I give a lot of my ideas, and he intuitively gets what he wants very accurately, and we established trust the first time. Later, when filming the movie, all the communication and exchanges with the director were very close."

Li Xiaole in the movie is caught in an uneasy state of fear of losing something in his relationship, but for Qiu Tian, ​​her sense of security comes precisely from the partners around her.

She likes the working state of the three of them working together as one during the filming of "Negatives Make Positives", "When I start to waver about my role, I tend to get into a dead end. The director and Brother Long will not tell me directly what to do. They just accompany me and let me express myself bravely. The whole creative atmosphere makes me feel at ease and happy."

In the alien's script, Li Xiaole left Huang Zhenkai in a dramatic way in a car accident; but in Huang Zhenkai's narration, Li Xiaole appeared in Buenos Aires and had a romantic encounter with himself who had just returned from traveling to many countries.

What is the ending of the movie? Qiu Tian is not confused. Maybe Li Xiaole is just a character in Akai's comics, the name of a cat, and maybe Huang Zhenkai is also fake, he is a character created by aliens, "even Wen Shipei is an alien director, everything you see is fake (laughs)."

When you see Huang Zhenkai confronting aliens and breaking the remote control that controls his life, you will know that nothing is impossible in "Negatives Make Positives".

Even if he could use cheat codes to fast forward and rewind his life, Qiu Tian didn't want to go to any time point.

"For example, if I go back to the past with my current memories, will it make up for the many things I wanted to do but didn't dare to do in the past? When I discussed this with my friend, she said, with your current intelligence, how can you hang out with your old friends again? And if I go to the future, I won't be able to keep up with the environment back then, and I won't even know the people around me. It's better to live in the present."

In the year 2024, which is already halfway through, not only have the two movies in which he starred been successfully released, his acting career has also made progress, and his daily life has also been filled with unknown surprises.

Qiu Tian had not watered the lemon tree at home for a long time because he was away from home for work. When he returned home, he found that the tree was not dead, but tiny weeds had grown on it.

When she described these small happiness, her eyes sparkled with different colors. Just like her favorite novel "The Witch of Portobello", the mysterious girl Athena in the book became concrete in Qiu Tian at that moment, just as the book said:
