On the afternoon of August 16, the Chinese sports delegation was established in Beijing. The reporter learned from the Gansu Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation that Gansu athletes Lian Hao and Liu Chaodong have obtained tickets for this Paralympic Games and are currently actively training and preparing for the Games.
In 2007, Lian Hao, who was only 12 years old, was selected for the national team with his outstanding performance. As a "veteran" who has participated in table tennis events for many years, Lian Hao has participated in four Asian Para Games in Guangzhou, Incheon, Jakarta and Hangzhou, and won gold medals in each event. He has participated in the London Paralympic Games, Rio Paralympic Games and Tokyo Paralympic Games three times and won three championships, creating the best record of Gansu athletes in the history of Paralympic Games. Due to his outstanding performance, Lian Hao has successively won the "National Advanced Individual in Disabled Sports in 2007-2010", "Gansu Youth May Fourth Medal" and "Gansu Province May First Labor Medal".
In 2018, Liu Chaodong won two gold medals and one silver medal at the 10th Gansu Provincial Games for the Disabled. In 2023, Liu Chaodong was selected for the national team for the first time and participated in the Hangzhou Asian Para Games, winning a bronze medal. In order to qualify for this Paralympic Games, Liu Chaodong participated in three international points races in Kazakhstan, Poland and Thailand this year, winning 1 gold, 2 silvers and 2 bronze medals, and successfully obtained a ticket to the 17th Paralympic Games.
