On July 24, Tang Shangjun posted a video on social media, saying that he had been admitted to the Information Engineering major at South China Normal University. The admission information showed that his current file status was "admitted to South China Normal University", the batch was "general undergraduate batch", the subject was "physics", and the major was "information engineering".
Tang Shangjun said that if he went to South China Normal University, he would first consider changing his major, and then minoring in a second major. If neither of these was successful, he would consider taking the postgraduate entrance examination.

In 2009, Tang Shangjun took the college entrance examination for the first time and scored 372 points. In 2010, he repeated his senior year and scored 405 points, just reaching the undergraduate line, and was admitted to Guangxi Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College.
After that, after being admitted to a junior college, Tang Shangjun lied to his family that he was studying in Nanning. Since 2017, Tang Shangjun has been admitted to Xiamen University, Guangxi University, Chongqing University, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Nursing and other prestigious universities. In 2023, at the age of 35, he took the college entrance examination for the 15th time. He originally planned to study a teacher training major at Central China Normal University, but was eventually rejected due to his volunteer application and had to repeat the exam again.
