On August 15, 2024, Johnson Controls, a global company committed to smart, healthy and sustainable building solutions, announced that the unveiling ceremony of the Johnson Controls York M multi-stage centrifugal compressor global manufacturing center was held at the Wuxi factory. The theme of the unveiling ceremony was "Leading the Future with Intelligence, Creating Extraordinary Quality".

On the same day, the "high-temperature, large-displacement multi-stage centrifugal heat pump compressor" and "M series multi-stage centrifugal low-temperature refrigeration unit" produced by Johnson Controls Wuxi Factory were commissioned to be evaluated by the Science and Technology Evaluation Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Refrigeration. Professor He Yaling, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Xi'an Jiaotong University, served as the leader of the expert group of the evaluation committee. The expert group members included: Professor Li Xiaohu, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Refrigeration, Professor Xi Guang, former Vice President of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Zhang Hua, Vice President of Shanghai University of Technology, Professor Li Xianting of Tsinghua University, Researcher Tian Changqing of the Institute of Physical and Chemical Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Senior Engineer Wang Congfei, Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Refrigeration.

In response to the market demand for high-temperature, large-displacement industrial heat pumps for low-GWP refrigerants, Johnson Controls York has developed a multi-stage centrifugal heat pump compressor series with 2-5 compression stages and inter-stage air replenishment, with a temperature rise of 120K, a water outlet temperature of 140℃, and a heating capacity of up to 30MW. It has also developed new high-efficiency, high-strength impeller blades with a circumferential three-section waveform profile on the non-working surface suitable for low-GWP refrigerants, which reduces flow resistance and improves the aerodynamic efficiency of the compressor. It adopts an innovative impeller fixing sleeve and locking ring keyless connection structure to ensure high stability of the rotor operation. It innovatively uses oil-free contact hydraulic couplings in this field, which reduces the main shaft diameter by 30% and reduces the shaft seal leakage rate by more than 50%.

In response to the market demand for large-capacity low-temperature refrigeration units using hydrocarbon natural refrigerants, Johnson Controls York has developed a low-temperature centrifugal refrigeration unit with 2-8 stages of compression and intermediate air replenishment, with an evaporation temperature as low as -70°C and a maximum cooling capacity of 20MW. It has developed a new type of thermosiphon economizer using thermosiphon gravity liquid supply and gas-liquid two-phase flow heat exchange technology, which reduces the tube-side cooling loss by more than 50% compared with the traditional design, increases the air replenishment volume between the compressor stages, and improves the refrigeration efficiency. It has developed a mixed oil ejector pump and a direct expansion oil cooling system, and the lubricating oil system is efficient and compact, which significantly reduces the circulating oil flow. The lubricating oil does not require water cooling and has stable operation, making it suitable for arid and water-scarce areas. It has developed an efficient pumpless drainage system that uses the pressure difference of the refrigeration system to complete the drainage, reducing the system energy consumption.
