Beijing News (Reporter Zhang Lu) Poetry recitation, Jingdong drum, quick-speaking book... On August 17, the first community audition of the Tongzhou District Poetry and Song Competition was held in Beiyuan Street, Tongzhou District. Residents from many communities in Tongzhou District signed up to participate.
At the event, residents who participated in the audition were enthusiastic. "The thousand-year-old canal moistens both sides of the river, and the docks are bustling with sweat. The bows of the ships flow into the dust, and the thousands of sails are far away into the horizon."... The audition officially began with the long fan dance "Canal Lyrics" performed by a 12-person team. The residents performed their love for the Grand Canal with their dance. Afterwards, the situational poem "Reading the Canal and Feeling Love for China" presented the canal culture in a three-dimensional form of poetry. The recitation of the poem "Tongzhou Fu" that shows the charm of the ancient city of Tongzhou brings people into the thousand-year history of Tongzhou. In addition, various residents' performances such as the quick-speaking performance "Eight Scenic Spots of Tongzhou", the Jingdong drum "A Play on the Grand Canal", and the quick-speaking book "The Grand Canal with Copper Gang and Iron Bottom" show the thousand-year charm of the Grand Canal from different perspectives.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the successful application of the Grand Canal for World Heritage status, the Tongzhou District Poetry and Song Competition aims to encourage more people to participate in the creation of poetry and songs about the Grand Canal, to sing praises of the Grand Canal from a new era perspective, and to promote canal culture, thereby driving more people to pay attention to, understand, sing about, and publicize the Grand Canal, while enriching the cultural life of the people.
Next, the event will also go to various communities in Tongzhou District for auditions, making positive contributions to the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt. It is worth mentioning that the 5-meter black and white miniature scroll of "Luyang Ancient Songs" created 40 years ago, depicting the two sides of the Grand Canal during the Yuan, Ming, Qing and Republic of China periods, was exhibited for the first time at the event, attracting many visitors to take photos and check in.
