Xinhua News Agency previously reported that the Thai Criminal Court issued a statement on June 18 saying that the court accepted the prosecution of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra by the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand on the same day.He was charged with suspected violations of Thailand's Criminal Code and the Computer Crime Act.The court subsequently approved Thaksin's bail application.

The Thai Criminal Court said in a statement:Thaksin's remarks during an interview with foreign media in 2015 were suspected of violating Article 112 of the Thai Criminal Code and the Computer Crimes Act. The court approved Thaksin's bail application, requiring him to pay a bail of 500,000 baht (about 98,000 yuan) and hand in his passport, and he was not allowed to leave the country without permission.

The Thai Criminal Court said it approved the application because it had reason to believe that Thaksin would not flee, tamper with evidence, commit other dangerous acts or obstruct court proceedings after being released on bail. The court plans to hear the case again on August 19.

A spokesman for Thailand's Attorney General's Office announced earlier on the 18th that Thaksin had reported to prosecutors that day and was transferred to the Criminal Court for formal prosecution.
