According to the "Northern Metropolitan Region Action Plan" issued by the Development Bureau of the SAR Government, the Northern Metropolitan Region is Hong Kong's future strategic development base and one of the important sources of land for innovation and technology. Among them, Lau Fau Shan can provide about 15 hectares of land for the development of a digital technology hub.
Zheng Songyan said that the Cyberport in the southern part of Hong Kong currently has insufficient land. With the rapid development of digitalization, the demand for equipment and supporting facilities of innovative and technological enterprises will increase. At the same time, opposite Lau Fau Shan is Qianhai, Shenzhen, where innovative and technological enterprises are located, which is conducive to strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the two places.
He pointed out that the new Lau Fau Shan base is not just an expansion of the physical space, but rather hopes to develop new digital technology service industries. Once the new industries are determined, a pilot program will be launched in Cyberport, which will allow for a seamless connection after the new Lau Fau Shan base is completed.
Recently, more and more large technology companies have entered Cyberport, bringing energy to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Hong Kong. Zheng Songyan said that many key companies have large data models and can use AI to help other industries, such as short video marketing. "When they cooperate with other industries, they need computing power, and Cyberport can provide support."
Zheng Songyan believes that when enterprises or university research institutions have these helpers, they can turn their daily operations into artificial intelligence and greatly improve efficiency. This is the value of AI. With these foundations, Hong Kong can naturally attract more AI talents.
Zheng Songyan mentioned that after coming to Hong Kong, some mainland Chinese companies hope to expand their overseas markets through Cyberport, extending to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, etc., while some overseas companies hope to enter the huge mainland market.
"We have led enterprises in the park to visit the Middle East and other places this year." Zheng Songyan said that Cyberport will continue to play the role of a gateway connecting the mainland and international markets, and actively promote outstanding enterprises to "bring in and go global."
Zheng Songyan hopes that Cyberport will become the "engine" of Hong Kong's digital economy and, as a base for innovation and technology, will be able to promote innovation and technology achievements to all walks of life in Hong Kong, and even radiate to the mainland and overseas. (End)
