"The Strange Stories of the Tang Dynasty: Journey to the West" concluded recently, and the original cast maintained the continuity of the two works to the greatest extent. Actress Gao Siwen played Pei Xijun in the play and won the love of many audiences. Although Gao Siwen is not very old, she is actually a "senior actor". She started filming at the age of 9 and has played many different types of roles. What impressed her most was playing the Queen Yang Lihua in "The Legend of Dugu" when she was 15 years old. It was this play that made Gao Siwen understand that many roles that she thought she could not complete can be challenged. Gao Siwen said: "There are still many roles I have not tried, and I hope I can keep trying."

Gao Siwen

Representative works: "Journey to the West in the Tang Dynasty", "The Strange Stories of the Tang Dynasty", "The Good Times of Wife", "The Legend of Dugu"
I hope to show the details of Pei Xijun's growth
Gao Siwen plays Pei Xijun, the daughter of the Minister of Personnel, and she admires Lu Lingfeng (played by Yang Xuwen). She is good at painting, and with her extraordinary memory and painting talent, she provides important help to Lu Lingfeng and Su Wuming in solving the case. Whether in the first or second part, Pei Xijun is a character with growth attributes, and in the second part, Journey to the West, actor Gao Siwen feels that Pei Xijun has become more resourceful and brave. "For this crime-solving team, Pei Xijun plays a greater role. Compared with the first part, she has some independent action lines in this story, and the character is richer."
Gao Siwen hopes to present the details and process of Pei Xijun's growth in the second part. She will also look for new changes in the character's inertia. "I think Pei Xijun appears more stable, calm and bold in the second part than in the first part." Gao Siwen will also add designs to Pei Xijun's movements and expressions. "When she faces Lu Lingfeng, her state is different from her usual state. I will add some different feelings to the character."
In the play, Pei Xijun, who is good at painting, and Lu Lingfeng, who is responsible for martial arts, Su Wuming, who is responsible for brainpower, Master Fei Ji, the genius doctor, and the female hero Yingtao formed a five-member detective team. Gao Siwen felt that the five-member team had a better understanding in the second part. "After a simple communication before shooting, everyone will immediately know what the other party wants." Gao Siwen recalled. A scene that impressed me deeply was when Lu Lingfeng came back and she rushed out of the kitchen to hug him. "This scene was actually adjusted on the spot." Gao Siwen said that the original script wrote "Lu Lingfeng and Su Wuming talked a few words outside and then went into the house and met Pei Xijun." Later, everyone discussed on the spot and felt that Pei Xijun was very worried about Lu Lingfeng. When he heard their voices, he would definitely come out as soon as possible, so it was changed to the current appearance. "Including the later Lu Lingfeng came back to hug Xijun, Xijun closed his eyes and cried, which was also designed by me. I think this can better reflect the worry and miss for him."

Rapid growth after filming The Legend of Dugu
When Gao Siwen was 15 years old, she took on the most challenging role in her acting career, The Legend of Dugu, in which she played the role of Queen Yang Lihua. At that time, the drama had already started filming and someone else was playing the role, but the director felt that it was not suitable and temporarily replaced Gao Siwen.
Although joining the crew was smooth, Gao Siwen was only 15 years old at the time and had a childish personality and no life experience. "The character of Yang Lihua has a complicated life experience, including her later relationship with her husband and the death of her child. She is also a historical figure and cannot be played casually, which was very stressful," said Gao Siwen.
In fact, when filming The Legend of Dugu, Gao Siwen felt that she did not understand Yang Lihua thoroughly. "Before filming this drama, I also played many roles that were very different from myself, such as a blind girl and a mute girl, but they were all different from this role." Gao Siwen could only consult a lot of historical materials. Fortunately, her mother gave her a lot of help: "My mother has been with me since I was a child. She has given me a lot of help, helping me understand the script and analyzing the emotions of the characters. At that time, there were many places where I couldn't understand Yang Lihua's emotions, and my mother would give me advice." Although looking back at the performance at that time, Gao Siwen still feels a little immature, but this drama made her grow rapidly. The most obvious change is that she will not be so shy when acting opposite male actors again. This drama also makes Gao Siwen more confident. "Before facing a challenge that I have never experienced before, I always felt that I would not be able to do it, but in fact, as long as I have enough courage, I will grow and gain." Gao Siwen said.

Started filming at the age of 9, hoping to challenge more
Gao Siwen was spotted by directors when she participated in dance competitions on various TV stations when she was young, and she started acting at the age of 9. Recalling her childhood filming experience, Gao Siwen remembers that it was fun and novel, "I felt that this is how TV dramas are made!"
Gao Siwen was very well behaved in the crew, and she could immediately respond and cooperate with the director's instructions, so she was loved by the director and acted in one work after another. During the filming process, Gao Siwen's interest in acting turned into a liking for it, so she was admitted to Shanghai Theatre Academy for systematic study. From her filming experience since childhood and systematic acting classes, Gao Siwen felt that her biggest gain was that she could act in a relaxed manner.
From her debut till now, Gao Siwen has been challenging herself. "From a blind girl to a mute girl, including playing a police officer, to now playing a lady from a wealthy family, I have been challenging different types of roles. I hope to continue. There are still many roles that I have not tried yet, and I want to try them all."
