On August 15, the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs issued an announcement, deciding to implement export controls on seven antimony-related items, including metal antimony and its products, antimony oxides, antimony hydrides, indium antimonide, and gold-antimony smelting and separation technology, as well as six superhard material-related items, including six-sided top press equipment, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Export Control Law of the People's Republic of China. Export is prohibited without permission.
Antimony is a silvery white, brittle, fusible crystalline solid. It is a metalloid element. It is mainly used to make alloys and semiconductor materials; antimony compounds are widely used in electronics, ceramics, flame retardants, chemicals and other fields.
According to data from the United States Geological Survey, China's antimony ore reserves will be 640,000 tons in 2023, accounting for 29.48% of the world's total, with a clear resource advantage. Russia's antimony ore reserves are 350,000 tons, accounting for 16.12% of the world's total. In addition, Bolivia and Australia are also major antimony resource storage countries in the world. China is the world's main producer of antimony. In 2023, the global output will be more than 80,000 tons, and China's output will be 40,000 tons, accounting for nearly half of the world.
