Guangzhou, August 16 (Xinhua) -- The 2024 Southern Book Festival and Yangcheng Book Fair opened on August 16. The main venue of this year's Book Festival is located in Area B of the Guangzhou Canton Fair Complex, covering an area of ​​about 40,000 square meters. More than 70 publishing institutions participated in the exhibition, exhibiting and selling more than 300,000 kinds of various publications and cultural and creative products, all of which set a historical record.

The French Guest of Honor Pavilion (hereinafter referred to as the "France Pavilion") specially set up at the main venue of this Book Festival has a total area of ​​432 square meters. It is divided into five exhibition areas: "Meet France", "France on the Tip of the Tongue", "Charming France", "French Architectural Art" and "Sports". It exhibits the winning works of previous Fu Lei Translation and Publishing Awards, as well as more than 100 French books, including literature, art, social sciences, children's books and picture books.

At the opening ceremony of the French Pavilion, French Consul General in Guangzhou Fu Xiwei said that the establishment of the French Pavilion will help promote cultural exchanges between France and China and allow Chinese readers to understand France through reading. He also said that he had developed a strong interest in Chinese literature in his youth and had read many works by Chinese writers in the 20th century.
