Experience the "Volcano Wandering" and decipher the "Wordless Book"! Lidu Community in Haiyu Town, Changshu City, held the "Science Fantasy Camp" activity

On August 3, students from the summer care program at Lidu Community in Haiyu Town, Changshu City, visited the Chemours Changshu factory and held a "Science Fantasy Camp" activity.
Following the teaching assistant, we first came to the paint workshop. The spacious and clean dust-free production site, the neat and uniform paint buckets for storage, and the ergonomic operating environment were all eye-opening. We listened carefully to the introduction and observed with great interest the various advanced scientific production equipment and technologies, marveling at the wisdom of scientists and engineers who transformed theoretical knowledge into practical results through unremitting efforts.
Afterwards, the students came to the scientific experiment area carefully prepared by the "scientist lecturer team" of Chemours Changshu Factory. Here, they will complete four small scientific experiments, namely: colorful magic potion, volcano travel notes, magic power fruit and deciphering the wordless book.
After everything was ready, the exciting experiment session of "Komurgy Camp" officially started. The students first participated in the "Colorful Magic Potion" experiment. They saw that by dropping the "mysterious liquid" into the test tube in front of them, the originally colorless solution could be transformed into rainbow-like colors; in the "Volcano Wandering" session, with the help of the magical power of chemical reactions, everyone witnessed the shocking visual feast brought by the fantasy lava lamp, as if they were in the magnificent scene of a volcanic eruption; and the "Magic Power Generation Fruit" experiment demonstrated the energy conversion in nature, allowing participants to have a more intuitive understanding of energy conversion; the last challenge was the "Deciphering the Wordless Book", writing on white paper with a solution containing starch, waiting for the paper to dry and then spraying the iodine solution on the white paper, and the originally invisible handwriting will gradually appear.
The above experiments include scientific principles such as color change of acid-base indicators, acid-base neutralization reaction, oil-water separation, and complex reaction. Each small scientific experiment made the students feel the charm of science while being amazed. During the whole process, the experiment teacher also interspersed "scientific common sense quiz". Everyone was enthusiastic and applied what they learned actively. They actively thought about the questions raised by the teacher in class and raised their hands to answer. Finally, they practiced with the teacher to explore the truth.
Staff from the Lido Community said that during this "Science Fantasy Camp" trip, the exciting, interesting, novel and fun science experiments not only improved the observation and imagination of minors, but also allowed them to learn more knowledge beyond textbooks in practice, thereby stimulating their enthusiasm and interest in scientific exploration, and also laying the foundation for promoting the cultivation of scientific and technological innovation talents in the whole society.
