The 2024 World Chess Championship, with a total prize of $2.5 million, is the first time in the 138-year history of the World Chess Championship that two Asian chess players will compete for the world championship title. The match will be between the defending champion, Chinese chess player Ding Liren, and the challenger, Indian chess player Gukesh. The two sides will play 14 games. The first to score 7.5 points will become the new world champion. If the two sides are tied after 14 games, the winner will be decided by a rapid chess tiebreaker.
Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) is Singapore's first integrated resort, renowned worldwide for its luxurious facilities and first-class hospitality. The last time he participated in a domestic competition in Chengdu at the beginning of this year, he has been "secluded" again since then. It is understood that Ding Liren is currently participating in the national team's training in Hangzhou. He and his teammates will prepare for the 45th Chess Olympiad Team Tournament to be held in Budapest, Hungary from September 10 to 23, 2024.
During the World Championship, the Singapore International Open will be held from November 29 to December 5, with many chess players from all over the world participating. Siddharth Jagadeesh, the youngest grandmaster (pending) in Singapore, said: "It's great that I can not only watch the World Championship up close, but also participate in a high-level international open tournament in my own country!"
