On August 16, the 2024 China New Energy Vehicle Rally Championship Hunan Station opened at the Geely Automobile Xiangtan Manufacturing Base in Xiangtan City. The event included three stages: Xiangtan-Leiyang-Shuangfeng, with a total mileage of over 700 kilometers. A total of 60 new energy vehicles and 120 drivers participated.

Liu Fumin, former director of the Sports Economics Department of the General Administration of Sport of China, announced the opening of the competition. Wang Huang, second-level inspector of the Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau and full-time vice chairman of the Hunan Provincial Sports Federation, Hu Zhongwei, member of the Standing Committee of the Xiangtan Municipal Party Committee and director of the Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, Li Wuxiang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Hunan Sports Industry Group Co., Ltd., Wan Xiang, deputy director of the Social Service Department of the China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Federation, Tan Ou, chairman of the Hunan Sports Development Foundation, and other leaders and guests attended the opening ceremony. National first-class actor Zhai Wanchen, badminton Olympic champion Tian Qing, "China's Car King" Lu Ningjun and other well-known people from all walks of life participated in this race as drivers.

The China New Energy Vehicle Rally Championship is one of the most influential new energy vehicle events in China. This Hunan Station has 38 popular models from 22 brands including BYD Denza, Tesla, Geely, Hongqi, Wenjie, Xiaomi, Weilai, Ideal, and Xiaopeng participating in the event. The event continues to adopt the fixed-speed rally system pioneered in China, which is not a competition of speed but accuracy. In the three stages of the Hunan Station, the organizing committee arranged Yaowan Historical and Cultural Block, Wanlou Scenic Area, Shuifu Temple Tourist Resort and other well-known scenic spots as check-in points. The cleverly designed "viewing" track and the racing cars will be broadcast to car fans across the country through live broadcasts, actively promoting the tourism characteristics of the host city and driving regional tourism with sports events.
