The roof of the factory can generate electricity, the smart transportation system reduces exhaust emissions by 20%, and the old-for-new home appliance exchange activity is not limited to any brand... August 15 is the second National Ecological Day. In terms of ecological and environmental protection, the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises is of great significance. Hisense Group recently officially released the "2023 Environmental, Social and Governance Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "ESG Report"), showing its breakthroughs in green upgrades and key technologies, and driving the overall industry to digitalize and transform into a green and low-carbon industry.
The ESG report shows that Hisense Group has integrated the green concept into every link and is currently promoting the construction of a green and low-carbon production system covering the entire process of energy utilization, R&D design, supply chain, manufacturing, sales and after-sales, recycling and comprehensive utilization. Through the exploration of new technologies and processes, a total of 14 national green factories, 4 national green supply chains, 1 zero-carbon factory, and 6 national "green design demonstration enterprises" have been built. Through the "Green Planet Renewal Plan", more than 30,000 home appliance trade-in activities of all brands have been carried out, allowing more consumers to enjoy a green and low-carbon quality life.
Driven by the "dual carbon" strategy, Hisense Group has strengthened technology and product innovation. In the field of television, it has reduced energy consumption by more than 30% through algorithms and digital technologies; in the field of air conditioning, it has reduced negative impacts on the environment through advanced environmental protection and intelligent technologies; in the field of refrigerators, it has used new technologies and materials to achieve a carbon reduction of approximately equal to the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by 1.7 trees in a year, and the amount of carbon dioxide emissions reduced by each WILL SPACE hyperspace refrigerator is equivalent to the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by 2.8 trees in a year. In 2023, Hisense Laser TV obtained the country's first corporate carbon label certificate and TÜV Rheinland's full life cycle carbon footprint certificate, and Hisense washing machines obtained TÜV Rheinland's "Full Life Cycle Carbon Footprint Certificate".
Hisense Group is committed to developing more sustainable raw materials, and has developed raw materials containing bio-based materials (such as straw and rice husks), which can reduce carbon emissions by 5% per kilogram compared to pure fossil raw materials. In addition, bio-based nylon PA56 materials can reduce carbon emissions by 49.6% per kilogram compared to petroleum-based PA66. Focusing on process optimization and energy-saving and emission-reduction technical transformation projects, the company optimizes the heat dissipation layout of the entire TV during the TV manufacturing process, saving about 4,626 tons of plastic annually, and using algorithms to significantly reduce the compressor preheating power of central air conditioners, reducing power consumption by 92.7%. Based on annual sales, it is estimated that the annual electricity saving will be about 17.56 million kWh.
Smart cities are an important stage for the implementation of ESG. Hisense has integrated the ESG concept into the construction of smart cities. For urban traffic, Hisense pioneered the automatic optimization of regional green waves, which can automatically find specific routes and specific time periods suitable for running green waves, and achieve "green waves into a network", so that regional efficiency can be improved by more than 20%, and the number of parking times can be reduced from 10 times to 2 times, so that more vehicles can enjoy the experience of green lights all the way. Data shows that after a city applies Hisense's smart transportation system, the traffic flow rate will increase by 10%, the number of parking times and road time will be reduced by 30%, and the exhaust emission pollution will be reduced by 20%, effectively reducing the carbon emissions caused by traffic congestion.
In addition, the photovoltaic power generation projects of many factories under Hisense Group are gradually releasing "low-carbon dividends", with an annual power generation capacity of about 70 million kWh; the implementation of green achievements such as Hisense ECO-B smart building system is reshaping the smart, green and healthy future urban space. For example, Hisense Hitachi uses factory roofs, carports and other buildings to lay distributed photovoltaics, achieving an installed capacity of 6MW, with an estimated annual power generation of more than 6.2 million kWh, and reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by 3,676 tons; AI intelligent control energy-saving models are established for high-energy-consuming equipment, reducing average energy consumption by 17%, and reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by 771 tons.
The report pointed out that in the future, Hisense Group will continue to insist on technological innovation, adhere to the construction of its own brands, accelerate globalization, fulfill its corporate social responsibility with greater courage and responsibility, show the resilience behind technological progress, establish close links with more users in the global market, better meet the global users' yearning for a better life, and help achieve a full-scene life experience that exceeds expectations.
