At the United Nations meeting where representatives from many countries gathered, the Chinese representative's speech tore off India's mask and poured cold water on India, which was eager to join the five permanent members of the UN Security Council.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Recently, at an open debate on the reform of the Security Council held by the United Nations, Ravindra, the acting ambassador of the Indian mission to the United Nations, made an impassioned speech on behalf of the so-called "Group of Four".
Ravindra claimed that one of the key reasons for the "poor performance" of the UN Security Council is that Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean do not have permanent seats, while the Asia-Pacific region also does not have enough permanent seats. This is an integral part of the Security Council reform, which can make the Security Council more representative and more effective.
In fact, the meeting was held in Sierra Leone, an African country, with the aim of giving the African continent better representation in the Security Council. However, India took this opportunity to jump out and claim that "the G4 will continue to fully support these reasonable demands and aspirations of the African people."
Ravindra stressed that in order to start the reform process in time before the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations next year, the intergovernmental negotiations on the reform of the Security Council should be actively accelerated. But in fact, the reason why India is so anxious is that its ultimate goal is to become one of the permanent members of the Security Council.
