The change of government in Thailand was triggered by a ruling by the Constitutional Court of Thailand on August 14. On that day, the Constitutional Court of Thailand ruled that Prime Minister Setha had violated the constitution and dismissed him from his post as prime minister. Setha had previously appointed lawyer Phichit, who had served a prison sentence, to his cabinet, and the Constitutional Court believed that Setha's move violated the constitution.
After the lower house election in May last year, Setha's Pheu Thai Party formed an 11-party ruling coalition in August and he was elected as the new prime minister of Thailand. After Setha was dismissed, the Pheu Thai Party and the ruling coalition formally nominated Pattondan as the prime ministerial candidate on the 15th. Pattondan is currently the leader of the Pheu Thai Party.
Born on August 21, 1986, Pattondan is the youngest daughter of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin. In the 2023 general election, Pattondan is one of the prime ministerial candidates of the Pheu Thai Party. Today, Pattondan was elected as the Prime Minister of Thailand, becoming the third prime minister of the Shinawatra family after her father Thaksin and aunt Yingluck.
