That morning, staff from the South African Soong Ching Ling Foundation came to Constantia Primary School in Cape Town to hold a material donation event, delivering a full truck of learning materials, including stationery, school bags, sports equipment, etc., to more than 500 poor students in the school. Chinese Deputy Consul General in Cape Town Tang Chang'an and other consulate officials, local officials in Cape Town, and major overseas Chinese leaders and representatives attended the donation event.
Tang Chang'an delivered a speech at the donation event, expressing his appreciation for the overseas Chinese in the consular district, represented by the South African Soong Ching Ling Foundation, for their commitment to charity and public welfare, and their active integration into and giving back to the local society. He hoped that these good deeds could sow the seeds of China-South Africa friendship in the hearts of children, help them grow and realize their dreams and change their lives.
Western Cape MP Khalid told about his experience studying in China at the donation event. He encouraged the children to remember the deep friendship of their Chinese friends and contribute to promoting the friendship between the peoples of South Africa and China when they grow up.

Chen Qing, president of the South African Soong Ching Ling Foundation, told reporters after the event that the funds for purchasing supplies came from donations from overseas Chinese and enthusiastic people. Since its establishment in 2009, the foundation has donated supplies to local orphanages, poor students, etc. every year, and has persisted for more than ten years. It hopes to promote people-to-people exchanges between China and South Africa and contribute to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
The South Africa Soong Ching Ling Foundation is a charitable organization established by the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation in Africa in 2009. It aims to promote the active participation of overseas Chinese in South Africa in charitable undertakings for African women and children, give back to the local society, and further enhance the image of overseas Chinese.
