Repainting the walls of your living room is an important decision to create a cozy and bright interior. Sometimes you have to reduce too much natural light, or amplify it and wake up a room that is a bit dark. Choosing the right wall paint shade for your living room means mastering the hue and brightening up every corner of the room at the same time. Paint color is not only a matter of taste, it also magically changes the atmosphere of a room. Designers know this well and offer their expertise and advice for colorful interiors. And the neutral, warm or cool tones in the color cards provided by the manufacturers really change the atmosphere of the living room and make it more welcoming.
Part.01
"White"
White is a great classic of interior design, a neutral and modern hue par excellence. It enhances brightness and gives a sense of space, while leaving room for combining various styles, sophisticated, Scandinavian, maximalist, bohemian. The palette of white is endless, from cream to shiny satin white. It reflects natural light even when there is no lighting, and can be easily combined with warm or cool colors, bright or pastel tones, as well as wallpapers.
In the apartment of Danish designer Pernille Teisbaek, the living room is painted in perfect white, highlighting the exquisite decoration of the ceiling and classical moldings. The windows are covered with simple white curtains to filter the light, and the Dusty Deco chairs designed by Mario Bellini on the rug and the vase designed by Malene Knudsen on the coffee table complete this elegant decoration.
Part.02
「Light beige」
Among the neutral colors, beige is dominant. It is an ally of modern living rooms and is applied by decorators in rooms and lobbies of large hotels to create a warm and soothing space. Within the range of light shades, light beige can advantageously expand the living room space, while light diffuses in an enveloping and soothing atmosphere.
In the living room of this Art Nouveau apartment, the beautiful herringbone parquet flooring has been retained, while the walls painted in light beige bring out the all-encompassing brightness of the room. A touch of hard blue on the sofa is enough to enhance this modern decor, paired with the Loop chair from WOO brand and the Ripple mirror in front.
Part.03
Almond Green
Almond green, as the name suggests, is a soft plant color that is experiencing a second youth amid the current appeal of natural tones. Until now, it has been associated with Provencal farmhouses and is not only rustic or cozy, but also suitable for city apartments. What's more, if you choose the matte version of this color, it will very elegantly decorate the walls of a modern living room without appearing in pastel shades.
In the living room of this colorful Ottoman-style apartment, the designer chose to paint the rounded wall in matte almond green paint to soften the natural light that is too strong at certain times of the day. Around the travertine coffee table designed by the studio, armchairs, sofas and pendant lights create a comfortable space for relaxation.
Part.04
「Warm beige」
The return of beige, taupe, linen and vintage brown, reminiscent of the 1960s and 1970s, reflects natural tones close to the earth. They adapt perfectly to the most modern living rooms and classic interiors. With these variations of warm colors, the atmosphere of the living room is enveloping, a sign of the quest for comfort and allows association with stronger or cooler colors.
The exterior paint and murals of this villa in Ibiza blend in with the landscape. This was all part of the principle architect Axel Vervoordt used to define the atmosphere of the living room, created in collaboration with wabi-sabi style expert Tatsuro Miki. The palette was developed based on samples of earth and rock taken from the site, and then local materials such as crushed stone were used and mixed with lime.
Part.05
"orange color"
With the vintage trend in full swing, we thought outdated hues were making a comeback, adding a bright pop of color to the living room. The orange hue on the walls goes well with the off-white color, and of course, you can go for furniture that mixes periods and styles.
In the living room of this Miami villa designed by Fabrizio Casiraghi, the designer chose orange to bring fantasy. Under the silk chandelier designed by Josef Hoffmann, there is a glass and brass coffee table by Jacques, a Scandinavian armchair and a Persian rug from the late 19th century.
Part.06
"yellow"
Naples Yellow or Yellow Ochre brings back to life a forgotten color that is the essence of places with a long history. Whether on the painted walls of a 17th century Italian villa or on the walls of a monastery converted into a luxury hotel, the patina and material effects achieved make the color and light vibrate at any time of the day. This hue has a soothing effect, bringing a burst of light to the living room in a somewhat dark space.
Interior designer Jorge Brown Cott redesigned this Brooklyn home as a space for the owner's art collection. The walls of the living room are covered in yellow lime paint, which highlights the large number of furniture: a green sofa by Francesco Binfaré (Edra), a stone totem by Sten Studio, a chair by Kouros Maghsoudi, and a coffee table designed by Luke Malaney.
Part.07
"Sky Blue"
Sky blue is airy and bright, immersing the living room space in a fresh atmosphere. This light and bright color has the advantage of expanding small spaces and living rooms. It is not necessary to paint the entire area, painted parts of the walls, doors or ceilings can evoke a pleasant feeling of suspension in themselves.
With a force and humor that matches the world of the musician Myd, architect Anthony Authié transformed and revived the living room of this small, light-blue Parisian apartment. In this radical decorative gesture, the piece and the bright colors it adds take on the appearance of a work of Pop Art.
