Since its launch, the third Pazhou Algorithm Competition has aroused strong response around the world. Yangcheng Evening News Omnimedia reporter learned on the 15th that as of July 31, the competition has not only attracted extensive participation from 36 countries including China, Singapore, Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom, but also achieved a remarkable breakthrough - the total number of registered teams reached 6,003, far exceeding the preset target of 5,000, demonstrating the vigorous development and globalization trend in the field of algorithm innovation.
Industry giants jointly set questions, and the first AI Big Model Challenge became the focus
The competition focuses deeply on industrial applications, and has set up three competition groups: algorithm optimization competition, innovative application competition, and AI large model challenge competition, with a total of 14 competition questions, covering multiple cutting-edge fields such as intelligent manufacturing, green energy, e-commerce, and future industries.
In the algorithm optimization competition, industry giants such as JD Retail, Geely Automobile, and Midea Group's Meiyun Zhishu jointly proposed five competition topics with scientific research institutions, attracting a total of 3,322 teams to sign up. Among them, the registration for competition topics related to intelligent supply chain was particularly hot, and the number of registered teams accounted for nearly 40% of the group. In the overseas competition area, the competition topics in the field of biomedicine jointly launched by Amazon Web Services and the Sino-French Artificial Intelligence Association also received a positive response.
The Innovation Application Competition focuses on innovative, practical and demonstrative solutions and products, covering five domestic competition topics: data security, intelligent manufacturing, green energy, e-commerce, and future industries, and has specially set up AI product competition topics for overseas. Currently, 1,131 teams have actively participated, and the number of registered teams for each topic is evenly distributed, reflecting the diversified innovation vitality.
The AI Big Model Challenge, which was established for the first time this year, has become a highlight of this competition. This competition group brings together authoritative government agencies and scientific research institutions such as the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Guangzhou Municipal Government Services and Data Management Bureau, as well as industry leaders such as Huawei, Guangzhou Data Group, and Zhipu Huazhang to jointly plan and propose topics, demonstrating unprecedented cross-border cooperation and authoritative influence. A total of 1,550 teams actively participated. This number far exceeds that of most previous competition groups. Today, generative AI has become a global focus and has set off a wave of AI technology competitions. The popularity of this new competition group in this competition has profoundly demonstrated that industry insiders are devoting themselves to the development of AI big models, trying to catch the train of this era. Among them, the GLM Legal Industry Big Model Challenge has received a warm response. So far, 1,143 teams have signed up, making it the most popular topic of this competition.
The domestic competition area has once again set off a wave of participation, bringing together overseas forces from 35 countries to compete
According to reports, the teams registered for this competition show a very wide geographical coverage, which not only consolidates the participation base of traditional strong competition areas such as North China and South China, but also accounts for nearly two-thirds of the number of participating teams in the domestic competition areas. In addition, teams from first-tier cities such as Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Nanjing, and Hangzhou are particularly active. At the same time, the enthusiasm of players in East China and Midwest China to participate is unprecedentedly high, and the number of registrations exceeds that of previous years. At the international level, the influence of the competition has also increased significantly, attracting overseas corporate teams from 35 countries including Singapore, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and the United States, and bringing together many participating teams composed of teachers and students from top foreign universities, further promoting technical exchanges and cooperation on a global scale.
