"It was only when I took the subway at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour for the first time that I understood what it felt like to fly." Recently, 70 teachers and students from the "Red Sheep Horn" Wenxiu class in Baise, Guangxi, came to Guangzhou in two batches to carry out a week-long summer study tour. It is reported that this activity is an extension of the "Learn Wenxiu, Relay Love" series of activities initiated by Guangzhou Metro in 2022, and has received strong support from the Baise Education Foundation.
During the event, teachers and students not only experienced the "fastest subway" Line 18 in the Greater Bay Area, visited representative places in Guangzhou such as the Metro Museum, the Depot, the "Red Sheep Horn" Party Building Base, and the Institute of Intelligent Manufacturing of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences, but also took the Guangzhou-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway to check in the "city business card", allowing students to appreciate the cutting-edge technology of first-tier cities and feel the unique charm of Lingnan culture.
During the experience of Line 18, teachers and students visited the station, depot, substation and Longzhen Control Center, which is known as the "brain of the subway". Through the staff's detailed explanation of how Line 18 can achieve fully automatic driving, fully automatic car washing, and how to inspect and maintain trains, command and dispatch driving and other subway knowledge, teachers and students have a more concrete understanding of the huge subway system.
The 5-day study tour was rich and colorful, and the vivid "classroom" inspired the students' enthusiasm to study hard to create a better future and give back to society. "This study tour opened my eyes and I saw many subway facilities that I had never seen before. I had learned the principles of transformers and damped vibrations in physics class, but I finally had the opportunity to see the real thing in person when I came to the depot! It is reported that in recent years, Guangzhou Metro Group has launched the "Learn Wenxiu and Spread Love" series of activities, linking up with other caring enterprises and units to jointly carry out assistance. It has opened five "Red Sheep Horn" Wenxiu classes in five schools in Baise City, Guangxi, and has sponsored a total of 275 students.
So far, Guangzhou Metro Group has set up book corners for five "Red Sheep Horn" Wenxiu classes, donated 2,100 books, donated 297 sets of class uniforms with a total value of nearly 120,000 yuan, fulfilled 125 micro-wishes, exchanged 160 letters with Wenxiu class students, and organized two "cloud classrooms" to invite famous teachers to provide pre-exam psychological counseling and guidance for filling out college entrance examination applications for 1,500 Wenxiu class students. Guangzhou Metro said that it will continue to carry out five student aid actions, including "cultural transmission, tutoring, cloud classroom, love relay, and style display", to link more resources to help Wenxiu students move towards a better future.
