On August 12, 2024, the ICU Department of Zaozhuang Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Oriental Hospital received an extremely precious gift - a silk banner from a patient. This silk banner is not only a recognition and praise for the work of medical staff, but also a testimony of the true interaction between doctors and patients.
The patient who sent the banner had been on the verge of life and death. The patient was injured by a car accident and was in a coma. He had multiple contusions and lacerations in the brain, subarachnoid hemorrhage, diffuse axonal injury, pelvic, vertebral, scapula, jaw, nasal bone, nasal septum fractures and other fractures and bleeding throughout the body, and his life was hanging by a thread. Faced with such a challenge, the ICU medical team, together with the second surgery department, the second orthopedic department, the stomatology department, the otolaryngology department and other brother departments, developed a series of refined treatment and nursing plans, including oral tracheal intubation, ventilator-assisted breathing, invasive blood pressure monitoring, fluid resuscitation, pelvic cuff external fixation, wound debridement and suture, anti-infection, nutritional support and other comprehensive measures. As the condition gradually stabilized, bedside rehabilitation training was carried out. Due to the special family situation of the patient, the medical staff took turns to buy vegetables and deliver meals to him, and his nutritional status has been maintained very well. After 38 days of full treatment by the medical staff, the patient was out of danger and transferred to the general ward. The family members couldn't help but say, "The nursing colleagues do a better job than us family members." The medical staff of the ICU not only strive for excellence in medical technology, but also provide patients with meticulous care in life, from scrubbing the body to cleaning up feces and urine. With their professional attitude and ultimate service, they make patients feel the warmth of their loved ones.
"Being chosen is trust, being recognized is happiness", the ICU of Zaozhuang Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Oriental Hospital will carefully protect every patient, be a warm medical worker, practice the doctor's oath with practical actions, and fight for it all their lives. In the future work, the ICU will continue to maintain a high sense of responsibility and professionalism, and provide better and more intimate medical services to every patient.
