On August 14, the reporter learned from the Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute of China (hereinafter referred to as "NPI") that the "Hualong One Pressurizer Pilot Safety Valve" jointly developed by the institute and CNNC Suvalve Technology Industry Co., Ltd. recently passed the scientific and technological achievement appraisal organized by the China Nuclear Energy Association in Chengdu.

Experts believe that the core technology of this product is self-controlled, has completely independent intellectual property rights, and its performance indicators have reached the international advanced level. It can be promoted and applied in nuclear power projects and has good social and economic benefits. This also marks the successful development of my country's first nuclear power plant pressurizer pilot safety valve, which solves the "bottleneck" problem of this type of core key nuclear power equipment and breaks the foreign technology monopoly.
The nuclear power plant pressurizer pilot safety valve is an overpressure protection device for the reactor's primary circuit system. It is recognized in the industry as the most difficult nuclear-grade valve to localize and has long relied on imports.
In 2016, the Nuclear Power Institute of China started this project ahead of schedule. Based on more than 40 years of research and accumulation on safety valves, the Nuclear Power Institute of China has made breakthroughs in key technologies such as the design and manufacturing of internal flow channels of high-precision pilot valves and large-displacement main valves, and the identification test of large-displacement safety valves, and has achieved a number of technical innovations such as non-flow pressure sensing and two-stage drive, completing the technical evolution from single function to multi-function, and small displacement to large displacement. At the same time, China Nuclear Technology has the conditions for the manufacture and engineering application of domestic pilot safety valves.
Next, the Nuclear Power Institute will work with China National Nuclear Corporation to actively promote the certification of civilian nuclear safety machinery and equipment, promote the engineering application of the first set of products at home and abroad, and continuously optimize and improve them, providing important support for domestic nuclear power construction and the "going out" of nuclear power technology.
