On August 13, the world's largest floating wind power platform "Mingyang Tiancheng" arrived at the Mingyang Yangjiang Qingzhou Sihai Wind Farm from Guangzhou Nansha Port after more than two days of voyage.
The equipment will be installed in the Mingyang Qingzhou Si offshore wind farm in Yangjiang, Guangdong within this year. After the laying of the submarine cable is completed, the grid-connected power generation and other work will continue to be promoted. It is worth mentioning that the "Mingyang Tiancheng" has achieved many world firsts and will provide advanced experience and important demonstration for the construction of Guangdong (Yangjiang) International Wind Power City and even the development of offshore wind power in the country.
The "Ming Yang Tian Cheng" was independently developed by Ming Yang Group, a global leader in offshore wind power. The two towers are arranged in a "V" shape and carry two 8.3 MW offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 16.6 MW. It can be used in a wide range of seas around the world with a water depth of more than 35 meters. The highest point of its impeller is 219 meters, and the maximum width in the air is about 369 meters. The overall towing design draft is 5.5 meters, and the total displacement of the platform is about 12,000 tons. When it arrives at the site and is ballasted to the operating condition, the total displacement of the platform is about 15,000 tons.
On August 11, after setting sail from the Nansha Port in Guangzhou, the "Mingyang Tiancheng" sailed into the Pearl River Estuary along the Guangzhou Port's sea-going channel, and sailed out of the Lingdingyang after "meeting" the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Afterwards, it continued to move westward, passing through Zhuhai, Jiangmen and Yangjiang Nanpeng Island Offshore Wind Farm, and finally arrived at the Mingyang Qingzhou Four Offshore Wind Farm in Yangjiang, Guangdong. During the navigation process, due to the large number of docks along the way from the port to the Pearl River Estuary, the waterway is narrow and complex, and towing is extremely difficult. In order to prevent the wind turbine blades from contacting and colliding with berthed ships or marine engineering equipment when leaving the port, the "Mingyang Tiancheng" kept the lower blades parallel to the wind turbine tower after leaving the port, minimizing the occupation of the air width of the waterway, and finally arrived in Yangjiang smoothly.
A relevant person in charge of Mingyang Group told reporters that compared with the current conventional capacity of 5.5 MW "Three Gorges Leader" and 7.25 MW "Offshore Oil Guanlan", the single unit capacity of "Mingyang Tiancheng" has been greatly improved. After it is officially put into operation, it can generate an average of about 54 million kWh of electricity per year, which can meet the daily electricity needs of 30,000 families of three for one year.
The reporter learned that the "Ming Yang Tian Cheng" has achieved many world firsts in the fields of foundation, structure and design. Its floating foundation is the first in the world to be made of ultra-high performance concrete materials with a compressive capacity of more than 115 MPa. The strength of this concrete material is about 4 times that of ordinary concrete. The "fiberglass shell + XPS core material + protective coating material" solution used in the buoy is also a world first, breaking through the limitations of traditional buoys using pure steel structure or steel-concrete structure. In addition, the design of the airfoil double tower, double main engine, double wind rotor, and the application of the cable system are all world firsts.
"We have also built offshore wind power demonstration projects in Yangjiang, including the 'Mingyu No. 1' wind-fishing integrated intelligent equipment. The successful practice of these projects has provided valuable experience and demonstration for the development of offshore wind power in Yangjiang and even the whole country." The above-mentioned person in charge introduced that Mingyang Group has leading independent research and development capabilities in the field of offshore wind power. Through continuous innovation, it has successfully developed a number of core technologies with independent intellectual property rights, such as ultra-large capacity offshore wind turbines, deep-sea floating wind power platforms, etc. The successful application of these technologies has provided strong technical support for the development of Yangjiang's offshore wind power.
