This year, Tongji University Alumni Associations in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing and Tibet will continue the tradition of "Charter Flight Just for You" in 2022 and "Tongji University First Button Special Train" in 2023 initiated by the Sichuan Alumni Association, and send the 2024 freshmen from the five provinces (regions and cities) to Tongji University.
Lei Zhibin, president of the Tongji University Alumni Association of Sichuan Province, said that this event aims to strengthen exchanges and connections among alumni in the five southwestern provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), to send care and blessings to Tongji freshmen in the five provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), and to hope that they can return to their hometowns after graduation to devote themselves to the construction of the southwestern region.
At the launching ceremony, Wu Guangming, deputy secretary of the Tongji University Party Committee, gave three tips to the freshmen: clarify goals, adapt to the environment, and keep working hard. He expressed his deep hope that the freshmen would clarify their life goals and university goals, change their roles and adjust their mindsets, adapt to the university environment as soon as possible, continue to carry forward the spirit of hard work, feel the new era Tongji culture of "Tongji serves the world, advocates science, leads innovation, and pursues excellence", and strive to grow into pillars of society with a heart for the country and the world.
Deng Siyu, a freshman of the 2024 class of Tongji University Guohao Academy who graduated from Mianyang Middle School, said that after entering university, she would maintain her enthusiasm for learning, improve her studies, and strive to give back to the school and the country. This year, the Sichuan Tongji University Alumni Association provided full tuition subsidies, mentor assignments, and employment support to Sichuan freshmen with college entrance examination scores of 680 or above. Deng Siyu was a representative of the recipients.
This year, Tongji University admitted a total of 248 undergraduate students in Sichuan, 9 more than last year. Sichuan is also the province with the largest number of students enrolled by Tongji University besides Shanghai.
It is reported that Tongji University's "Tongchuang" special train (train number G2195) will depart from Chengdu East Station on August 17 and arrive at Shanghai Hongqiao Station, sending more than 200 new students who were admitted to Tongji University this year to school for free. (End)
