Cailianshe News, August 14 (Editor: Niu Zhanlin)On Tuesday local time, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Borrell said that the EU fully supports Ukraine's actions in the Kursk region and has communicated with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba on the attack in the Kursk region. This is the clearest statement from the EU so far on Ukraine's cross-border attack on Russia.

Borrell posted on social media: "We discussed with Kuleba the latest developments on the front and the counter-offensive in the Kursk region, and I reiterated the EU's support for the struggle of the Ukrainian people."

He also claimed that Russia had not succeeded in crushing Ukrainian resistance and that after a series of clashes and events, Russia was now being forced to retreat into its own territory.

Kuleba also responded that day: "When I talked with Borrell, I focused on Ukraine's efforts to expand cooperation with the EU in the production and delivery of weapons. I have told Borrell the details of Ukraine's actions in Kursk Oblast."

The United States and the European Union have so far sidestepped questions about their roles in Ukraine's latest offensive, saying it is up to Ukraine to decide how to use weapons, equipment and ammunition provided by Western countries.

U.S. President Joe Biden has refused to comment on Ukraine's attack on the Kursk region. He did not respond to speculation that the White House was involved in planning the attack.

In addition, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal recently visited the Ukrainian capital of Kiev again and met with Ukrainian President Zelensky. At the press conference held after the talks, the two praised the Ukrainian army's attack on Russia's Kursk Oblast, calling it "bold, perfect, beautiful" and "historic breakthrough".

They also expressed hope that the Biden administration would continue to provide weapons to Ukraine and give Ukraine more flexibility and power in using Western-supplied weapons so that Ukraine could carry out deeper strikes against targets within Russia.

Ukrainian troops interviewed by Western media have acknowledged that the cross-border raids are aimed at seizing some land to trade in possible peace talks with Russia, as well as relieving pressure on the Donbas front.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine was carrying out the will of its Western masters and being manipulated into fighting Russia. He also said Ukraine would continue to try to destabilize border areas, including the Bryansk region.

The United States and the European Union this week continued to provide Ukraine with billions of dollars in military and financial aid, while insisting that this would not make them a party to a conflict with Russia and rejecting Russian warnings that such actions could lead to a direct confrontation.
