Yunnan.com (Reporter Zhao Gang) "Shanglongyin Village used to be a very inconspicuous small village. After the China-Laos Railway passed by the doorstep, fruits, vegetables, flowers and trees were planted in front of and behind the houses. Not only has the living environment become more beautiful, but the villagers can also generate income at their doorstep by engaging in rural tourism." said Yiwang, deputy director of the Mannasan Village Committee of Mengla Town, Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.

The Shanglongyin Village Group in Mannasan Village is a pilot village for the construction of the frontier party building corridor pilot demonstration zone. With the opening of Mengla Railway Station on December 3, 2021, the Shanglongyin Village Group has become the first village in front of the China-Laos Railway Station with its unique location advantages.

Yiwang introduced that the living conditions of the Shanglongyin villagers were poor before, and the villagers had been farming for generations, and the village roads were still bumpy mud roads. In recent years, relying on the location and transportation advantages of the Mengla Railway Station of the China-Laos Railway, the village has actively built the brand of the first village in front of the China-Laos Railway Station, tapped into food resources, ethnic culture, natural scenery and other resources, and planned to develop industries such as characteristic farmhouses and experiential homestays.

This year, the Shanglongyin A-level tourist attraction opened, attracting people from surrounding villages and villagers from the village to set up stalls at the "Buxiaohuang" market. Agricultural products, Dai special snacks and handicrafts are dazzling, and tourists come here in droves. So far, the local area has held four sessions of the market, attracting 15,000 tourists, generating more than 280,000 yuan in revenue, and increasing the average household income by more than 1,500 yuan.

"The opening of the China-Laos railway also gives villagers the opportunity to bring their special food, special products and Dai culture to big cities by 'taking the train', so that friends from other places can also see the characteristics of Mengla and attract them to invest and develop in Mengla," said Yiwang.

At present, the homestays led by the two village cadres have opened and have formed a demonstration effect in the village. Ten households have expressed their willingness to develop restaurants and homestays. There are many villagers in the village who are engaged in flower planting, handicraft weaving, etc. Everyone's thinking has been opened up, and the channels for increasing income have also become wider. The living environment and road traffic in the village have been greatly improved, and buildings have sprung up. The first village in front of the China-Laos Railway Station is showing great vitality.
