The reporter learned from the Shunyi Highway Branch that Shunyi District will implement a major overhaul project on Longtang Road (from Airport East Road to Suzhuang Bridge East) starting from August 15 to further improve the road traffic service level, and it is expected to be completed before mid-November.

The Longtang Road (Airport East Road to Suzhuang Bridge East) overhaul project is a 2024 highway maintenance project of the Municipal Transportation Commission. The project starts from Airport East Road in the west and ends at Suzhuang Bridge East in the east, with a total length of 10.7 kilometers. The main contents of the project include road disease treatment, road surface structure renewal, replacement of damaged walkway bricks, and replacement of bridge railings.

Detour signs have been installed on roads around Longtang Road.

The reporter saw along Longtang Road that many surrounding roads have been equipped with detour signs, construction signs and warning signs. "This construction will first occupy the two inner lanes of the motor vehicle lane for construction, and use the outermost motor vehicle lane and non-motor vehicle lane of the road for traffic guidance. After the construction of the inner motor vehicle lane is completed, the outermost lane and non-motor vehicle lane of the road will be constructed." Cao Song, deputy chief of the engineering department of Shunyi Highway Branch, introduced.

Longtang Road is an important passage connecting the east and west of the Yellow River in the southern part of Shunyi. It passes through Dasungezhuang Town, Beiwu Town, Lisui Town, and Liqiao Town. The construction section is located in Liqiao Town, and it has been more than ten years since the last major overhaul. Due to the long-term use of the road, some road surfaces have road diseases such as subsidence, cracking, rutting, and cracks, which affect citizens' travel. After the implementation of the project, the road service level can be further improved and the service life of the road can be extended.

Workers are making preparations before construction.

Before the construction started, Shunyi Highway Branch held several coordination meetings with Liqiao Town Government, and visited villages (communities), businesses, and public service units around the construction area to explain the construction plan and remind everyone to plan their travel routes reasonably. During the construction period, Shunyi Highway Branch formulated construction plans such as short-segment construction, staggered construction, and night construction, and strengthened traffic diversion to minimize the impact of construction on traffic and citizens' travel.
