Although Game of Thrones has ended for several years, the exploration of its spin-off series is still ongoing. Recently, Kit Harington, the soul of the show and the actor who plays Jon Snow, revealed the inside story of why the spin-off series centered on Jon Snow was shelved in an interview with the media.
The unnamed series was originally scheduled to start in 2022. The main idea is to continue the world view of "Game of Thrones" and dig deep into Jon Snow's new chapter after the war. Kit Harington once said with great anticipation: "I have imagined that playing a soldier who has experienced war will surely dig out an interesting and profound story behind it."
He also admitted that although the idea was good, the script of the play never met his standards. "Although we have devoted several years of hard work and repeatedly polished it, unfortunately, this script has never ignited the spark in our hearts and failed to reach the level that all of us are excited about it." He said: "At a certain point, I began to have reservations, realizing that if I forced it, I might only end up with an unsatisfactory work. This is obviously an ending we don't want to see."
The cancellation of the project may be a relief for Kit Harington. After all, the role of Jon Snow almost occupied the golden period of his career. He said with emotion: "To some extent, everyone needs to say goodbye to the past. It is undoubtedly an indelible mark in my life and one of the largest and most significant works in my career."
Kit Harington also shared his experience of quitting drinking. For a long time, Kit Harington had a problem with alcoholism. Not only was he an alcoholic, but his drinking habits were not very good. When he was drunk, he loved to act crazy. For this reason, he was admitted to a rehabilitation center for treatment many times. This time, Kit Harington proudly stated: "I am proud of my feat of successfully quitting drinking. Before I quit drinking completely, I would stare in the mirror and call myself a scumbag. I hated myself. Now, every time I step on the stage or do any job, I feel proud because I know I gave it everything. Before, I always felt like there was a huge monkey on my back, pressing me to the point of suffocation. So, for me, being able to be proud of myself is a relatively new experience."
