Southern Metropolis Daily reporter Lin Min'er On August 13, the "Great Beauty of the East·Gold Jewelry Innovation Design Competition", a grand event that brought together global design elites, kicked off in Luohu, Shenzhen. Nearly 150 people, including experts and scholars from the gold jewelry industry, design, culture and art circles at home and abroad, representatives from major universities, associations, industry leaders, and designer representatives, gathered together to witness the innovative and creative power of Shenzhen gold jewelry.
As an international, professional and innovative gold and jewelry design competition, this event is one of the matrix activities of the 2024 Shenzhen Design Week and an important measure to create a year-round "Never-ending Shenzhen Design Week". The competition is based on the concept of "keeping the integrity and innovating", focusing on the inheritance of oriental culture, including Shenzhen's interpretation and discussion of the contemporary design spirit. It is an active attempt to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of China's excellent traditional culture, and a new platform to enhance the creative design level and added value of the gold and jewelry industry.
The gold and jewelry industry is a shining name card of Shenzhen City and Luohu District. Shenzhen's gold and jewelry industry, mainly in Shuibei, Luohu, has brought together many well-known jewelry brands and companies at home and abroad, forming a complete industrial chain and a huge industrial cluster. The competition will also form a regional linkage with Qianhai, and collect entries from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and even the world.
Liu Wenbin, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee, expressed the hope that the "Great Beauty of the East·Gold and Jewelry Innovation Design Competition" would connect the world's top designers and design works, promote the transformation of design power and commercial power, create more design brands with international influence, and help "Shenzhen Design" become a city brand that attracts global attention. At the same time, it will promote Shenzhen's gold and jewelry industry to usher in a broader development space.
Fei Jun, the chief planner of the competition, professor of art and technology at the School of Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, doctoral supervisor, and visual director of the 2023 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, released the rules, commercial applications, and activity matrix of the competition. Fei Jun said that this competition is not only a design competition, but also an intersection and integration of China's excellent traditional culture and modern design concepts. The competition focuses on the creativity and aesthetic value of design, and emphasizes the practicality and commercial transformation ability of design.
As the leaders and guests present pressed the start button together, the competition officially kicked off.
