According to the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK), local time on August 13,Tokyo Electric Power Company of Japan said that 25 tons of water containing radioactive substances were found to have leaked from the related facilities of the nuclear fuel residue cooling pool of Unit 2 of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

According to reports, TEPCO said it has stopped injecting water into the cooling pool and is conducting an investigation.

TEPCO also said that water containing radioactive materials did not flow into the external environment and there was no problem with the cooling of the nuclear fuel.

TEPCO said:The location and cause of the water leak will be confirmed by robots this week.

According to previous reports, TEPCO launched the eighth batch of nuclear contaminated water discharge into the sea on August 7, with a discharge of about 7,800 tons. Despite strong opposition from both inside and outside Japan, the Japanese government and TEPCO still launched the discharge of nuclear contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant on August 24, 2023. So far, seven batches of nuclear contaminated water have been discharged, with a cumulative discharge of about 55,000 tons.
