On August 14, the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision announced that three department-level officials had been dealt with: Wei Weihan, former mayor of Zhongshan City, and Yang Andui, former deputy secretary of the Shaoguan Municipal Party Committee, were expelled from the party and removed from public office; Liu Runrong, former deputy inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Land and Resources, was expelled from the party and his corresponding retirement benefits were canceled in accordance with regulations.

Wei Weihan was born in July 1965. He worked in Guangzhou in his early years. He had served as deputy mayor of Haizhu District, Guangzhou, member of the Standing Committee and deputy mayor of Huangpu District, deputy secretary-general of Guangzhou Municipal Government, secretary and director of the Party Leadership Group of Guangzhou Municipal Urban Management Committee, and secretary of Liwan District Committee of Guangzhou.

In February 2023, the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government issued the "Guangdong Province's Report on the Accountability of Issues Transferred by the Second Round of Central Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspectors". Among them, Wei Weihan, then deputy secretary of the Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee and mayor, was given a warning for dereliction of duty in water pollution prevention and control in Zhongshan.
On April 19 this year, it was reported that Wei Weihan was investigated for suspected serious violations of discipline and law.
Upon investigation, it was found that Wei Weihan had lost his ideals and beliefs, betrayed his original aspiration and mission, was disloyal and dishonest to the Party, and resisted organizational review; he ignored the spirit of the Central Committee's eight regulations and gave gifts in violation of regulations; he violated organizational principles and did not truthfully explain the issues during organizational talks; he lost his integrity and obtained large returns through private lending; he used public power as a tool to gain personal benefits, engaged in power-for-money transactions, used his position to make profits for others in project promotion and land use approval, and illegally accepted huge amounts of property.

Yang Andu was born in February 1972. He worked in colleges and universities in his early years. He was vice president of Nanhai College of South China Normal University. Later, he worked in Zhongshan City for many years. He served as mayor of Tanzhou Town and secretary of the Dongfeng Town Party Committee. In 2016, he was appointed member of the Standing Committee of Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee and commander-in-chief of Zhongshan's counterpart assistance to Chaozhou Command. He was also appointed member of the Standing Committee of Chaozhou Municipal Party Committee and deputy mayor of Chaozhou Municipal Government. In 2018, he was appointed member of the Standing Committee of Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee and secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Municipal Party Committee.
In 2020, Yang Ansui was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee of the Maoming Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor. In 2021, he was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Shaoguan Municipal Party Committee. He later resigned and was investigated in June this year.
Upon investigation, it was found that Yang An had lost his ideals and beliefs, betrayed his original aspiration and mission, was disloyal and dishonest to the Party, resisted organizational review, and engaged in superstitious activities; he ignored the spirit of the Central Committee's eight regulations, and accepted gifts and cash gifts in violation of regulations; he violated organizational principles and failed to report personal matters as required; he lost his integrity and arranged for others to pay expenses that should have been paid by himself; he engaged in power-for-money transactions, used his position to make profits for others in enrollment, project contracting, and land nature changes, and illegally accepted huge amounts of property.
Liu Runrong, who was dealt with this time, has been retired for 10 years.
