The Guangdong-produced film "It's Not Too Late to See You in the Countryside" was scheduled today and will be released on September 13. The film tells the story of a female struggler in a big city trying to find a new life in a difficult situation, explores personal growth, and shows the charm of intangible cultural heritage.
In the film, Ma Li, a struggling woman in a big city, has to return to her long-lost hometown Heyuan with her boyfriend's son after experiencing a low point in life. Faced with a difficult father and unresolved past events, Ma Li's journey home is full of challenges and conflicts. However, it is in this land where she once felt out of place that she begins to regain herself. Ma Li resolves the gap between her and her father, and the warmth of family affection and love brings her strength, and she eventually finds a new direction in life.
The film is directed by Li Yiwen and starred by Liao Mengyan, Wang Weibo, Wang Haofeng, Yang Demin and Ruan Xiaowei. The heroine is played by Liao Mengyan, a new generation actress. She and her "lover" Yang Demin in the film both graduated from the Central Academy of Drama. The young male protagonist Wang Haofeng is a fifth-grade student in Guangzhou Primary School who originally had "zero acting experience". He was new to the screen, but his performance was quite spiritual and very contagious.
The film was mainly shot in Guangzhou, Heyuan, and Yangchun, Yangjiang. It was shot in many places in the director's hometown of Heyuan, including Yihe Ancient Town on the Dongjiang Gallery in Dongyuan County, Linzhai Ancient Town in Heping County, Lianping County known as the "Shangri-La of Guangdong", and the famous Wanlv Lake Scenic Area. In addition, the scenery of Malan in Yangchun was also stunningly presented. The film also incorporates intangible cultural heritage elements such as the unique Hakka cat-headed lion and Lingnan colored paper-cutting into the plot, presenting the charm of Guangdong's traditional culture.
