IT Home reported on August 14 that at the Pixel 9 launch conference held today, GoogleIntroducing the new Pixel Screenshots feature, similar to Microsoft’s “Recall” function, saves, organizes and calls the information in the screenshots through screenshots.
Introduction
Pixel Screenshots uses Google's private, locally-run Gemini Nano AI model and multimodal technology to aggregate and analyze the content of the screenshots, and then provide various services to users.
Once the user enables this feature, all system screenshots will be imported into the Pixel Screenshots app, and users can also import old screenshots from old phones.
Pixel Screenshots provides options such as sharing, marking (annotating/cropping) and deleting screenshots, and can set date-based reminders. IT Home attaches the relevant video as follows:
interface
The Pixel Screenshots app makes extensive use of the Material You design language, starting with the carousel design of the reminders mentioned above.
Then there’s the ability to manually group screenshots by “Collections,” as well as a grid of all screenshots, and users can also open a dedicated view by clicking on Google’s vertical chevron on the right.
In the "All Screenshots" page, you can toggle between different grid densities, and all screenshots are annotated with which application the screenshot is from, along with a short title generated by Gemini Nano.
After opening the screenshot, there is a longer summary and suggested actions, such as add to calendar, search in Maps, open in Chrome (if it is a web page), and Google will also create a deep link. In this view, you can swipe left/right to see other screenshots.
There is a floating search bar at the bottom of the app, which allows natural language queries via voice input. In addition to answering questions directly, Google can also display screenshots and other related content. The search is done in real time and is quite fast.
There is a FAB next to it, which allows you to manually add pictures from the gallery (Google Photos, Downloads, etc.) or open the camera to take new pictures and save them.
