In order to improve the mental health literacy of young people, the Shandong Petrochemical University "Heart Follows the Fireflies" Summer Social Practice Team actively responded to the call of the Communist Youth League Central Committee, and joined hands with the Dongying District Youth League Committee to go deep into the community and rural grassroots, and went to 14 Firefly Schools in the region to carry out the "Mental Health Youth Tour" special activity. This activity focuses on deepening social practice and volunteer service, and is committed to tempering the quality of college students and realizing their own value.
Two-way communication of "heart" knowledge to open up a new world
During the preparation stage of the activity, the practice team members collected and sorted out detailed information based on their previous work experience and the psychological characteristics of the youth group. They actively prepared and presented lessons, and designed small classes on the theme of releasing pressure, traveling dreams, and emotional management. At the same time, they also carefully designed communication tools such as heart protection cards, student heart protection manuals, and parent heart protection manuals to spread mental health knowledge in a two-way, dual-channel manner.
In Ruijing Community of Liuhu Town and Shengyuan Subdistrict Party and Mass Service Center, the children of Firefly School were enthusiastic and showed great interest in every activity. Through a series of group counseling activities such as "Unbreakable Forest" experience, twisting stick flower DIY, and "Beauty in Life" round fan graffiti, the practice team members not only let the children learn about mental health while having fun, but also guided them to discover their own shining points with a positive perspective. The team members patiently answered the questions raised by each student.
Diversified expansion of "heart" group counseling actively empowers new experiences
At the activity sites in Xifan Community, Niuzhuang Town and Youguo Village, Shikou Town, the students were very curious and excited about these new forms of group activities. They took their friends to participate in the activities, experienced the fun, and expressed their love for the activities to the members of the practice team.
Conduct in-depth research at the grassroots level to develop new skills
In addition, the practice team members also focused on social reality and conducted research on the educational anxiety of primary and secondary school students and parents. They collected 315 student questionnaires and 450 parent questionnaires through distributing questionnaires and field visits, and interviewed more than ten parents. Through the survey, they understood the current status of educational anxiety and tried to find solutions from multiple dimensions such as family, school, and society. This process not only allowed the practice team members to master scientific research methods, but also exercised their basic ability and quality to communicate with others.
The clearer you know, the more you will practice; the more you practice, the clearer you will know. This social practice activity not only helped the young people in the school master certain mental health knowledge, but also made the college students feel the value and sense of achievement of helping others and achieving themselves in the new experience and full commitment. The team members said that they would respond to the call of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League with practical actions and contribute to promoting the harmonious development of society and cultivating outstanding young people in the new era.
