"Big Data Expo Review" 2016: "Big Data Expo" upgraded to national level

From May 26 to 29, 2016, the China International Big Data Fair with the annual theme of "Big Data Opens the Intelligent Era" was successfully held in Guiyang. As the development of big data has become a national strategy, the 2016 China International Big Data Fair has been fully upgraded and become a "national event" and is co-hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, and the People's Government of Guizhou Province.
After upgrading to a national brand, the scale of the Big Data Expo has been greatly increased, from 40,000 square meters in 4 pavilions in 2015 to 6 pavilions with an area of 60,000 square meters. At the same time, a 5,000-square-meter theme exhibition area of the National Big Data (Guizhou) Comprehensive Experimental Zone was specially set up to highlight the development process and achievements of Guizhou's big data industry. Premier Li Keqiang attended the opening ceremony, and more than 20,000 domestic and foreign guests, including world-renowned corporate leaders, big data leaders, experts and scholars, gathered together to participate in the grand event.
At the opening ceremony, Premier Li Keqiang delivered a speech. Standing at the height of history and the future, he actively grasped the trend of the times and profoundly expounded the important significance and far-reaching impact of new technologies represented by the Internet and big data on economic and social development. He systematically put forward major proposals such as promoting the development of the new economy and the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, developing a sharing economy, cultivating and developing information network industries such as big data through streamlining administration and delegating power, and realizing information security in openness and development. These proposals have aroused enthusiastic response and wide recognition from the international community.
Subsequently, during the four-day event, many entrepreneurs and experts with global influence in the field of big data put forward a series of highly constructive and leading opinions and suggestions, exchanged many new practices, disseminated many new experiences, put forward many new ideas, and reached many new consensuses.
During these four days, a dialogue between the Prime Minister and entrepreneurs, an opening (closing) ceremony, 68 forums, 17 series of activities and the Guiyang Big Data International Expo were held. At the same time, the "Guiyang Consensus of the 2016 China E-Commerce Innovation and Development Summit" was also released;
During these four days, more than 1,500 world-renowned experts, scholars and industry elites from 21 countries and regions around the world gathered at the Big Data Expo to conduct fruitful exchanges and discussions on big data open sharing, big data security, big data ecosystem, and big data standardization. More than 46,000 participants (guests) and more than 3,700 companies participated in the conference and exhibited, attracting more than 10,000 professional visitors.
During these four days, more than 30 international companies including Alibaba, Tencent, Microsoft, more than 30% of the top 100 big data solution providers, and more than 300 foreign start-ups and other companies and institutions demonstrated more than 1,000 cutting-edge technologies such as VR, AR, artificial intelligence, big data integrated solutions, high-end servers, big data visualization, and cloud platforms.
During these four days, 68 special forums were organized around the theme of "Big Data Opens the Intelligent Era", focusing on key issues of big data development such as data openness and sharing, big data security, big data ecosystem, big data standardization, big data industry development, "Internet +", and big data promoting supply-side reform, urban development, smart cities, government governance, Internet financial supervision, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, health big data and other key areas. These summits, forums, competitions and activities followed the rules of international forums, closely followed hot topics, and formed a large number of theoretical and practical results;
During these four days, the Big Data Expo fully played its window role and carried out a series of exhibitions, negotiations, and project signings involving the core industries, related industries, and derivative industries of big data. It signed cooperation agreements with well-known domestic and foreign companies and institutions such as the United Nations Development Program, Qualcomm, Intel, and NIIT, promoted a number of major project laboratories and a series of innovative results, and built a large platform for communication, cooperation, and sharing for the domestic and foreign big data industry.
During these four days, nearly 80 exhibition activities were held, including the debut of many new products such as Alibaba's intelligent IoT platform, SAP's "Digital Stadium", Intel's AR augmented reality virtual products, Dell's virtual reality development, Huawei's world's first 32-way open architecture Kunlun minicomputer, Foxconn's self-service rendering cloud platform, Zhizhen Technology's Xiaoi virtual robot, Qihoo 360's e-government cloud, LeTV's all-electric concept car and ecological chain products.
The 2016 China International Big Data Expo has attracted great attention from around the world. Overseas media such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, PR Newswire, and Bloomberg, mainstream media such as CCTV, People's Daily, Xinhua Daily Telegraph, and Guangming Daily, and online media such as Tencent Daily News, NetEase News, Sina News, and People's Daily Online reported on the grand event in an all-round, multi-format, and multi-angle manner.
During the conference, the conference also pushed the promotional video and some English articles of the Big Data Expo overseas for the first time through Google, covering North America, Europe and parts of Southeast Asia, which greatly increased the popularity of the Big Data Expo. According to the monitoring of the Xinhua News Agency's Public Opinion Monitoring Center, there were 8,084 original domestic news reports and 63 major articles from foreign media. The total number of clicks on the information about the Big Data Expo pushed by the central key news websites, major domestic commercial websites and their new media platforms reached 2.65 billion, becoming an important hot spot of public opinion at the time. On the 25th alone, more than 1 billion people watched the opening ceremony live on the Internet, and more than 6 million people watched it live.
Standing at the height of history and the future and actively grasping the trend of the times, the 2016 Big Data Expo will make the growth of "China Digital Valley" more firm and steady.
