On the morning of August 13, at the river dock of Tuojiang Cultural Museum in Huaikou, Jintang, Chengdu, the water training venue arranged according to unified standards and unified facilities and equipment was ready.
During the critical period of flood prevention, in order to improve the organizational coordination and comprehensive rescue capabilities of Chengdu's emergency flood prevention and rescue teams and to train the backbone forces of water rescue, Chengdu's 2024 military and civilian water rescue team joint training and municipal flood prevention and rescue team comprehensive exercises were held in Jinding County from August 12 to 14.
"When entering the water, hold your right hand horizontally, protect your face with your left hand, and jump your body horizontally..." In order to achieve professional, precise and scientific rescue, four practical subjects including IRB non-powered comprehensive rescue, IRB rapids comprehensive rescue, night emergency search and transfer rescue, and formation combat practical demonstration were set up for joint training, as well as special training on emergency rescue theory. The knowledge and skills of water rescue were imparted to the team members through a combination of theory and practice.
Red Star News reporters learned that the joint training and exercises involved common disaster accident scenarios such as still water rescue, rapids rescue, and night rescue. Group training, actual combat competitions, and expert reviews were used to carry out comprehensive training in multiple subjects such as unpowered rowing, unpowered capsizing self-rescue, drowning rescue, drowning first aid, swimming with equipment and cutting corners to avoid obstacles, centrifugal rescue, reef rescue, and live bait rescue. This ensured the comprehensiveness and scientific nature of the training content and shortened the "gap" between actual combat and actual combat.
A total of 17 teams and 138 members participated in the event, including the Chengdu Garrison Militia Team, the government professional rescue team, the social emergency rescue team, and the grassroots emergency rescue team. "Most of the participants selected by each team are new forces and young backbones in the team," said a relevant person in charge of the Chengdu Emergency Committee Office. "Through training and running-in, 'one-on-one' strong guidance, and 'hands-on' teaching of operations, they can grow quickly, improve their professional skills and practical capabilities, and lay a solid foundation for responding to water emergencies in the future."
