IT Home reported in October 2023 that Google officially announced plans to produce Pixel 8 series smartphones in India, and more production details leaked in February this year.
Google will first prepare the production line for the Pixel 8 Pro at its southern India factory and plans to start production of the high-end phone in the second quarter of this year, followed by assembling the Pixel 8 model at its northern India factory in the middle of the year.
People familiar with the matter said Google set an ambitious sales target for Pixel phones last year, planning to ship 10 million units by 2024.
It was reported in July this year that Google is planning to produce the standard version of Pixel 9 with the help of Indian electronics manufacturer Dixon Technologies; at the same time, the higher-end Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 XL will be produced by Foxconn's Indian factory, and these Pixel phones produced in India are planned to be exported to the United States and the European Union.
