Tang Shangjun, born in 1989, grew up in a remote mountain village in Shangsi County, Fangchenggang City, Guangxi. From 2009 to the present, Tang Shangjun has taken the college entrance examination 16 times: 372 points in 2009; 405 points in 2010; 475 points in 2011; 505 points in 2012; 530 points in 2013; 573 points in 2014; 587 points in 2015; 625 points in 2016; 570 points in 2017; 619 points in 2018; 646 points in 2019; 619 points in 2020; 591 points in 2021; 597 points in 2022; 594 points in 2023. He explained that the reason why he insisted on repeating the exam was because he did not do well in the exam at first, "at least get into a second-tier university." Later, my grades improved. When I did well in the exams, I felt hopeful and thought I could do even better if I repeated the year, or even get into Tsinghua University. But when I did not do well in the exams, I felt unwilling to accept it.

Over the years, Tang Shangjun has been admitted to famous universities such as China University of Political Science and Law, Xiamen University, Guangxi University, and Chongqing University, but he did not attend any of them.
