Original title: Humanoid robots open up a new market of trillions of dollars: It is the right time for future industrial growth
From robotic arms on production lines to "waiters" delivering meals in hotels, from "communicating" with people to helping people "do things", robots are gradually entering people's lives... As an important field of future industries, the robotics industry has broad development prospects and has attracted market attention. Industry insiders pointed out that humanoid robots may be the robots that are easiest to adapt to the world, and 2024 is expected to be the first year of commercialization of humanoid robots. International investment bank Goldman Sachs predicts that by 2035, the market size of humanoid robots is expected to reach US$154 billion, or about RMB 1,103.73 billion.
Creating a humanoid robot is not an easy task. How can a robot not only "look like a human", but also see, hear, walk steadily, and touch accurately like a human, and achieve sensory interaction with the physical world? From servo motors to reducers, from materials to software, from chips to algorithms... it can be said that every link in the humanoid robot industry chain is an arena for scientific and technological strength.
In my country, the layout of related industries is accelerating. The "Guiding Opinions on the Innovation and Development of Humanoid Robots" (hereinafter referred to as the "Opinions") issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in October last year pointed out that it is necessary to accelerate the innovation and development of my country's humanoid robot industry to provide support for building a strong manufacturing country, a strong network country and a digital China. The opinions also give a "timetable" for the development of humanoid robots in my country: by 2025, the humanoid robot innovation system will be initially established, and a number of key technologies such as "brain, cerebellum, and limbs" will achieve breakthroughs to ensure the safe and effective supply of core components; by 2027, the technical innovation capabilities of humanoid robots will be significantly improved, forming a safe and reliable industrial chain and supply chain system, building an internationally competitive industrial ecology, and reaching the world's advanced level in comprehensive strength.
Under the policy "east wind", the research and development of humanoid robots has entered the fast lane. In November last year, the first provincial humanoid robot innovation center in China was established, and on April 27 this year, the self-developed universal humanoid robot mother platform "Tiangong" was released, which can achieve a stable running speed of 6km/h, and can also make agile adjustments to gait in the event of stumbling, stepping on air, etc. In May this year, my country's first national and local co-built humanoid robot innovation center was unveiled in Pudong, Shanghai. Its self-developed humanoid robot "Qinglong" is 185 cm tall and weighs 80 kg. It has up to 43 active degrees of freedom in the whole body and can use tools to pick sesame seeds from millet...
On April 27, 2024, the "Tiangong" robot made its debut and demonstrated walking and running.
The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting on July 30 and pointed out that it is necessary to cultivate and expand emerging industries and future industries. It is necessary to vigorously promote high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, strengthen key core technology research and development, and promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shandong, Anhui and other places have launched a "roadmap" for the development of humanoid robots this year, clarifying relevant measures around key core technology research and development, product research and development, high-level talent training, and strengthening terminal products.
Next, we need to promote the implementation of more policies, further create a social environment for innovative development, increase industry-university-research cooperation, promote the gradual improvement of the humanoid robot industry chain and the gradual expansion of its application scope, build an internationally competitive industrial ecology, and promote my country to move faster, more steadily, and better on the new track of humanoid robots.
