Zhitong Finance APP learned that Omdia published a report saying that in the first half of 2024, IT panel shipments performed well. Monitor panel shipments reached 79.5 million pieces, far higher than the 71.13 million pieces in the first half of 2023. The situation of notebook computer panels is also similar to that of monitor panel shipments. In the first half of 2024, notebook computer panel shipments reached 94.8 million pieces, which is also far higher than the 87.45 million pieces in the first half of 2023, with a significant increase.

Omdia's latest monthly shipment report, "Large-size Panel Market Tracking Report - June 2024 Data", shows that large-size panel shipments in June slightly exceeded May, reaching 75.78 million units, a 2% increase from 74.14 million units in June 2023. Although large-size panel shipments were still under the production control strategy of panel manufacturers in June, the shipment level remained at a relatively good level.

In terms of panel shipment area, the shipment area of monitor panels reached 13.92 million square meters in the first half of this year, and was only 12.31 million square meters in the first half of 2023, a significant year-on-year growth of 13%; the shipment area of notebook computer panels reached 5.68 million square meters in the first half of 2024, and was only 5.21 million square meters in the first half of 2023, a year-on-year growth of 9%.

If the demand for IT panels maintains the distribution trend in the first and second half of 2023, the shipment of monitor panels is expected to be close to 160 million pieces in 2024, while the shipment of notebook panels is expected to exceed 200 million pieces. The demand for IT panels in the second half of the year is expected to be better than that in the second half of last year. The demand for IT equipment replacement and the new demand brought by AI PCs may be important reasons for the current relatively strong demand for IT panels.
