At a critical period in the exploration of driverless technology, Luobo Kuaipao issued a statement.
On August 12, Baidu's self-driving travel platform "LuoBoKuaiPao" issued a statement saying that the company had recently received reports from the public that some criminals had developed fake websites and apps in the name of "LuoBoKuaiPao" and spread false investment and leasing information through the Internet (social media, chat software, etc.), such as "free leasing for the first 20,000 registered LuoBoKuaiPao members". The above-mentioned acts are suspected of illegal acquisition of citizens' personal information, fraud and other illegal and criminal activities, which have not only seriously infringed the company's intellectual property rights, brand image and public reputation, but also may lead to infringement of the legitimate rights and interests of the majority of netizens. LuoBoKuaiPao has reported to the relevant departments as soon as possible. At the same time, more than 800 reports have been issued to various social media platforms, and 732 rumors have been removed so far.
Luobo Kuaipao emphasized that, up to now, Luobo Kuaipao has never conducted "franchising", "leasing", "fund raising" and other related businesses by itself or authorized any third party. The content release and related fraudulent activities carried out by criminals under the name of "Luobo Kuaipao" have nothing to do with our company. We remind the majority of netizens to be vigilant and avoid being deceived.
Luobokuaipao also solemnly warned organizations and individuals who used the name of "Luobokuaipao" to immediately stop all illegal activities. The company will resolutely crack down on any unauthorized infringement, fraud and other illegal activities that infringe on the public interest under the name of "Luobokuaipao" and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the company and related netizens through legal means.
In recent days, with the acceleration of the legislation process for driverless cars in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other places, the development of Luobo Kuaipao has also attracted close attention.
So far, Baidu has not announced the specific number of LuoBoKuaiPao vehicles deployed. According to media reports, the total number of vehicles in Wuhan in the first quarter of this year was 500, including vehicles with and without safety officers. In June, Xinhua News Agency reported that the number of LuoBoKuaiPao driverless vehicles exceeded 300.
Baidu's official data shows that as of April 19, the cumulative service orders of Luobo Kuaipao exceeded 6 million times, and the ride services provided in the first quarter were about 826,000 times, a year-on-year increase of 25%. At the earnings conference, Baidu founder, chairman and CEO Robin Li said that in the first quarter, the proportion of driverless orders in Wuhan exceeded 55%, and continued to rise to 70% in April, and is expected to rise rapidly to 100% in the next few quarters.
On May 16, Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU, 09888.HK) released its first quarter financial report for 2024. Baidu's total revenue was 31.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1%; Baidu's net profit (Non-GAAP) was 7.011 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22%. Among them, Baidu Core (a combination of search services and transaction services) had revenue of 23.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4%; Baidu Core's net profit (Non-GAAP) was 6.628 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26%, both exceeding market expectations.
As of press time, Baidu's Hong Kong stocks fell 0.9%.
